When I read this: "...For example, there is no way to know if the women who received the mammograms were the same women who went on to be diagnosed with the disease, they write..."

My first thought was: Really? How on earth did they do the study? Did they do an informal poll or something, because the number of women who receive mammograms in any given system, and the number of cancers that are developed from mammograms in that system are well documented. Every accredited program has software to keep those statistics.

They have to follow-up with pathology, and link it back to the mammogram, and reports are run on it. It seems fishy to me.

Was this funded by a government grant? It appears in JAMA, which are Obamacare rump-swabs.

Let's see how correct the "scientists" and "socialologists" have been:

Global cooling will bring another ice age;
Ozone layer is disappearing because of hairspray carbons and will cause massive destruction of the eco-system and millions of deaths;
Over-population will cause millions and millions of deaths;
Pesticides on apples will kill untold millions;
Nurture, not nature, is what make boys and girls different;
The arctic and antarctica are melting;
Polar bears are a dying species;
The Alaskan oil pipeline will kill the caribou;
Sea levels will rise and flood low lying shores and islands;
Climate change is caused by SUVs;
Egg yolks are bad;
Meat is bad;
Milk is bad;
Cheese is bad;
Jogging is good;
Wine has trace elements which are bad;
Sleeping more than 8 hours is bad;
Government exists to help;
The poor need more money;
Capitalism only benefits the rich;
Socialism works.
Any college degree gives opportunity in the workplace;
Illegal aliens are a benefit to our economy;

Need I go on?. Every point above has turned out wrong.

They already cut back on routine PSA testing for prostate cancer.

Most breast cancer is discovered by the individual not a mammogram.

I discovered mine then freaked out and ran to my gynecologist who promptly sent me for an emergency mammogram at the hospital. The radiologist came out after and told me it really didn’t look like cancer to him and for me not to worry. A subsequent biopsy brought me the bad news.

Everytime you get a mammogram you get a dose of radiation. My gyno told me a long time ago that if you get enough mammograms they will give you breast cancer at some point. I now only do it every few years.

This is nothing but ObamaCare trying to cut costs by cutting health care.

Anyone that thinks detecting cancer early is useless is just a Luddite idiot.

I hear you. This reminds me of the all of a sudden “everyone must get a colonoscopy” craze. I’m not buying it.

I found a lump in one of my breasts myself. They did a mammogram to see if I had tumors in the other breast and it came back negative.

But Jesus woke me up and told me to have both breasts removed which I did. The “good” breast was riddled with small tumors. I would probably be dead about now if I did not have the Holy Spirit taking care of me.

Think of all the findings of ‘studies’ in sociology, economics, psychology et al predicated on the mental state and preferences of 18-24 year olds. How representative is that?
