StemExpress Cells in the Development of Humanized Mice
StemExpress ^ | 10 June 2015 | StemExpress

Posted on 07/30/2015 7:11:24 AM PDT by Erik Latranyi

The human body is a complex biological system. In order to fully understand this complex system, in vivo (live) analysis is often required. However, the study of human biology in vivo is severely limited due to ethical and technical constraints.

In place of human models, humanized mice have been created to fill this role. These humanized mice have become important tools for the in vivo studies of human cells, tissues, and organs, without putting individuals at risk. Such humanized mouse models may be used to model the human immune system in scenarios of health and pathology. A successful means of creating a humanized mouse is accomplished by the injection of human hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) into irradiated immunodeficient mice, such as NOD SCID mice. HSCs can be obtained from several different tissues, including human umbilical cord blood (UCB).

We are proud to announce that StemExpress CD34+ cells from human UCB have been used successfully to generate humanized mice. Further information can be read in a publication by Halkias et al. In this article, mice expressing the human HLA transgene were used to examine human T-cell development and behavior in the thymus.

Cate Dyer founded her biotechnology company in Placerville with only $9,000. Four years later StemExpress, which provides human blood, bone marrow, human primary cells and tissue for medical research, ranks No. 363 on the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing private companies, with 1,315 percent growth over a three-year period.

Interesting Facts:

Best advice you ever got: “Identify what your greatest weaknesses are and hire those strengths immediately.”

Goal by age 40: “Truly brilliant ideas take place when we slow down, take in our environment, and see what’s missing. So on that note, I want to start spending at least one month living in another country, every year.”

Biggest whoops: “Letting fear hold me back.”

Favorite possession: Everything Apple

Guilty pleasure: Motocross/Motorcycle Riding

I am passionate about: “Revolutionizing medical research, directly improving patient care, being an instrument of change and absolutely enjoying life to its fullest.”

Interesting comparison.

Also interesting is that for years the pejorative for these all-natural, anti-vivisection, animal rights, PETA-loving, tree-hugging, non GMO, vegan, tofu-guzzling, latte-sipping, anti-civilization people has been the word....”Crunchy”.

Horror movies could start that way; what could possibly go wrong?

I oppose GMOs and I also oppose this medical “research”. I would also submit to you that many who advocate for & develop GMO foods are also behind these ghoulish experiments. Lots of lefties are in bed with the GMO people, like Monsanto.

Growing human kidneys in rats sparks ethical debate

Interesting line from StemExpress Cate Dyer:

For the organs used in the new study, "All donors are properly consented through an Institutional Review Board (IRB) consent, and donors are made aware of the potential use of any sample that we collect," said Cate Dyer, CEO and founder of Stem Express, the company that provided the kidneys for the study. This includes being told that the tissue could be transplanted into animals.

In addition, the donors did not receive any direct benefits for donating the fetal tissue, Dyer noted, writing in an email to Live Science.

Back in the 502s and 60s I read every piece of SciFi that was extant. I remember reading tales that described results of this sort of tinkering. They were not written optimistically for the future of mankind.

How does a developing pre-born infant sign an organ donor consent form?

(Thank you for posting this interesting and disturbing article)

No, Planned Parenthood received the direct benefits for donating!

Step away from the moral aspects......here are a bunch of wealthy white people selling parts of, mostly, black babies for money. Shouldn't the mothers get that money?

That is the angle that would probably come out in the rest of the videos...that’s why they have been banned.

That’s my take on this, anyway.

“Humanized mice”?

We’ve already got plenty of those: Mickey Mouse, Jerry Mouse, Mighty Mouse, Sniffles, Ignatz, etc.
