Both Alinsky and Cloward/Piven thought that the free enterprise system had to be destroyed from within.

Camouflage and deception are key to Alinsky-style organizing.

The posted extract made me think that the author might believe that the Democrats went hard left starting in 2008. "Oh no!" I thought. "It happened long before that!"

I actually clicked on the article and I see that the author fully understands the situation. The article seems like a good summary of "the long march through the institutions". It's been going on for a long, long time.

Now if only the right would take over the Republican party.

Edward Gibbon, the renowned historian who wrote The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, described six attributes that Rome embodied at its end:

first, an overwhelming love of show and luxury;

second, a widening gap between the rich and the poor;

third, an obsession with sports and a freakishness in the arts, masquerading as creativity and originality;

fourth, a decline in morals, increase in divorce and decline in the institution of the family;

fifth, economic deterioration resulting from debasement of the currency, inflation, excessive taxation, and overregulation;

and sixth, an increased desire by the citizenry to live off the state.

The Quiet Revolution: How the New Left Took Over the Democratic Party

After Boehner, McConnell and Roberts, shouldn't the title be " How the New Left Took Over the Republican Party"?

Nice summary. Just slightly absurd to think a strong president could turn it around.

Only by adopting the tactics of our enemies and preparing for a century or two of infiltration can there be any reasonable hope for recovering the former Republic and it's former Constitution.

Technically, they are the “reactionary left” that have taken over the Democrat party. Their ideas are mostly 19th Century stuff, long and repeatedly discredited.

FDR instituted a “new left” which combined the ideas of socialism with national socialism, to produce something of a hybrid philosophy. But the reactionary left want a return to socialist-communism, with all of its inhuman, totalitarian parts.

“I feel confident that I could persuade a millionaire on a Friday to subsidize a revolution for Saturday out of which he would make a huge profit on Sunday even though he was certain to be executed on Monday.” Saul Alinsky

That is REALLY POWERFUL, and TOTALLY TRUE.

Who, after all, is pushing Amnesty in the Republican Party - it certainly is NOT the Tea Party or any other part of the base. It is the big-money people, looking for cheap labor and luxurious retirements. And what really sucks about it is that most of these people have kids and grandkids...yet, I guess, their ‘retirement’ lifestyle is much more important to them, than whether their country is destroyed. They are beasts, and I’m with the left in wanting them to pay...but for a different reason (i.e., Amnesty).

No mystery. America used to have God's protection. Like King Saul, as long as we obeyed God, all was well. But as Saul rebelled more and more, it became impossible for God to dwell in a defiled temple. Saul's ego and arrogance finally drove God completely out.

But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him. (1 Samuel 16:14)

Sometimes we refuse to accept the truth. God is simply giving us what we've demanded. And deserved. Viz. a godless, truth hating, clinically insane potus along with an equally evil rubber stamping Congress.

And it's going to get a lot worse before it gets any better.
