I’ve listened to loud rock music all my life. Got Tinnitus. I’m perfectly fine with it, as I can’t hear it anyway over the loud rock music.

I don’t have pain, but I hear it ALL DAY LONG!! I’ve gotten somewhat use to it, but sometimes at work (where there are loud machines, but I don’t need ear plugs), I can’t understand people because I just hear that ringing...

I would be delighted if a cure could be found. Tinnitus doesn’t interrupt sleep or really bother me exactly, but it really exacerbates my already significant hearing loss. And no, hearing aids don’t help.

I have tinnitus. I got it because when rockets detonate they are quite loud and having two in quick succession is even worse.

I do not suffer from anxiety or sleep problems. It doesn’t really interfere with my daily life since I’ve had it for so long. I guess I’ve grown accustomed to it. I’ve also grown accustomed to the constant pain in my ankle, knee and back. Not totally ok with the shoulder pain though.

[[People who have it say it can be excruciating.]]

It’s not painful- it’s just VERY annoying- the sound is hard to describe, I would say it’s like hitting a ball pean hammer on a bell mixed with a SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH sound- constant, no let up- 24/7

FWIW... Someone recently told me heavy use of aspirin can cause tinnitus. Could be as mine started around time I had to take lots of aspirin.

Interesting. Dr. Savage has said on air that magnesium helps in the treatment as well. Stating he has taken that route and it seems to help. However, DH now takes the magnesium and has not seen nor heard any improvement.

Airplane engines & guns, motorcycles & machinery pre-ear protection days, so yes, tinnitus is there all the time.

But you know what? I rarely notice it unless someone says something about it. I’ve learned to just ignore it. Not because it isn’t enough volume either - it is - I just filter it out most of the time.....

Any hope for people with painful feet due to plantar fasciitis? Most podiatrists will prescribe arch supports when surgery is required.

I also have tinnitus ,in stereo, no doubt. Loud music, loud factories, loud jets for many years. Mine is a sound of about 11,600 hz and it is constant 24/7 and very loud. That combined with the underlying hearing loss make many social situations, such as crowded noisy restaurants, parties, and concerts unbearable to me. I also really dread children’s scream as it is painful and it ups the volume of tinnitus for hours. It’s ALL ok for me and I am not complaining, just sharing.. I think my poor wife suffers over it more than me. I just can’t hear what people are saying and often ask people to repeat or to speak louder. I think I can still hear fairly well, but the tinnitus is so loud that it drowns out the sound. I do very poorly on hearing test because I can not tell the tones from the tinnitus.

If there was a way to make it truly stop, then I am all ears!

Shattered my right ear cochlea in a motorcycle accident (along with a lot of bones).

I now have TINNITUS in my right ear. It's livable, but I dearly miss stereo, since I'm totally deaf in that ear now, and being a musician, it really sucks.

I can’t remember not having ringing in my ears. The thought of being able to experience quiet is intriguing. I wonder if the lack of constant high-pitched noises would help with my tendency to cringe or jump at certain types of noises. It would be very nice to find out someday.

You may be at higher risk of developing tinnitus if you are over 65 and male. Also, people exposed to loud noises for extended periods of time and those with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have higher rates of tinnitus.

Some medications also cause ringing in the ears as I've come to learn the last month.

Nerve pain medications can also cause ringing in the ears. I take elavil for neuropathy related nerve pain in my feet and shortly after my dosage was upped I started hearing this loud siren in my left ear. Ironically, elavil is also recommended to relieve nerve pain. Go figure.

I’ve recently read that many people develop the ringing in the ears because they are grinding their teeth at night - though I’m not sure how THAT would be treated, only the negative impact minimized.
