They can easily thwart this evil scheme by not having sex with women they are not married to.

No.

They can't.

All you have to do is be alone in a room with an SJW [say, at the end of a seminar] and they'll accuse you of sexual assault.

You're very naive if you think proper behavior will protect you. It won't.

... not be alone with women ... Christian men have practiced this bit of wisdom for generations.

Please be serious.

This isn't Saudi Arabia.

You often don't have any choice but to be alone with females you aren't married to in professional settings. Hell, you could be accused of "inappropriate touching" by a feminist who wants your job just by being alone in the break room with her for 30 seconds as she wanders in and you're on your way out.

Actually proper behavior will protect you.

Pastors and Priests have been doing it for centuries. You don't be alone with people who may claim that you behaved improperly with them.

You avoid both temptation and the danger of false witness.

I didn’t claim it was easy.

... concerned that some open source folks want to cast the role of the movement as an attack on corporate America.

Sorry, but that trap for the Open Source Movement was laid by Richard Stallman and the Free Software Foundation LONG before Linus Torvalds. The movement began as an attack -- not on corporate America -- but free market economics itself, and has been co-opted more and more by sensible people as time has gone by.

Men in an all-male profession have that option. The rest of us don’t.

I didn't respond to a claim that it was "easy."

What you're advocating is not difficult. It's impossible.

Bizarre thinking and poor reading comprehension. Did you read the article?

As much as I enjoy Torvalds giving the finger to Nvidia...

I lack the bandwidth for Breitbart and the infinite popup, pop under...

Using Linux with an Nvidia card, I do enjoy the photo.

There are plenty of blockers for Linux, and no good reasons to patronize The Register.

No, it is not. I have known a number of business people who are very careful not to be alone with people who might accuse them of improper behavior.

It has saved more then one career.

People who cry that it is impossible are those who just don't want to either put in the effort or they like flirting with temptation.

Did you?

The easiest way to avoid a honey trap is to avoid any honey that is not yours.

As in most cases, the best solution is a simple one.

He is of the opinion that because celibate males are able to avoid isolated professional situations with females, everyone can.

Bizarre thinking: because a handful of predatory feminists will try to ruin your career, you should have no contact with women, ever. Even more bizarre: He also thinks men aren't capable of resisting temptation. Been married over thirty years, never even gave the idea of betraying my wife or my vows a thought.

Thanks for casting aspersions on the character of anyone who disagrees with your Islamic worldview. Unfortunately, you've betrayed more about your own character with your line of "reasoning" than you have anyone else's.

Nor are incidents in which women have complained that the technology industry's culture is rather macho. In 2013, Sarah Sharp, who then ran USB-compatibility efforts in the Linux kernel. Sharp urged Torvalds to stop verbally abusing fellow kernel developers and encourage more civil conversation with developers of any gender. That complaint was widely applauded and the kernel development community responded, in part, by creating a "Code of Conflict" outlining acceptable behaviour.

Sharp, however, eventually quit kernel development because she felt the kernel community's response was toothless and ineffective.

Torvalds defence has always been that his ire is directed at bad code, not its authors. Womens groups retort that a culture that permits such abuse is not welcoming to anyone, and especially hostile to women. That culture is therefore held to be unhelpful for an industry in which skilled workers are nearly always in demand, either for paid employment or volunteer roles.

My respect for Torvalds just shot up 1000%. I have advice for those whining women - if it's too hot in the garage, get back into the kitchen.

The sex is not necessary, mere social interaction is all that is necessary, as I found out in 1997. In my case it was just Sunday bicycle rides and lunches. Sometimes all that is needed for a false accusation is the woman being the sole passenger in a car (or she’s driving and the man is a passenger. Being alone with a woman in an elevator or an office. Anything where it turns into he said/she said, and what he said matters not one bit.
