Lead Like Patton At Bastogne (Is Trump like Patton?)

It was the greatest moment of Pattons career and a welcome, day-late Christmas present for the surrounded heroes of Bastogne. The Americans went on to smash the Germans at the Bulge, one of the most significant victories of the war.

Desperate for a miracle amid the crisis, the Americans got what they needed from Patton, who stayed completely confident in himself, his troops and his policy of aggression. That confidence enabled him to take the big risks necessary for a miracle.

With the economic recovery going in fits and starts, you might want to do a little miracle working of your own. Not so surprisingly, Patton-style miracles are replicable, if you do the following:

Believe in yourself. Patton was famous for many instances of bad behavior, especially the notorious slapping of a wounded soldier. But he never lost faith in himself or his belief in aggressiveness as the path to success. If you believe in what you’re doing, keep doing it. If you don’t believe in it, find something you can believe in. Quickly.

Dont worry about policy or business rules. Patton organized and trained his troops to handle something so difficult it was considered impossible, according to military doctrine. If you’re striving for a miracle, you can’t afford to be constrained by your company’s past.

Be aggressive. Take risks. There’s no way around this. Big success is for those who take big risks. Playing it safe may keep you in business, but it also squanders opportunities.

no. I’ll vote for him in the generals, but I can’t see Patton getting into a catfight with rosie o’donell or taking a shot at a POW (and yes, I hate McCain) I don’t think he would be concerned about people playing fair.

or maybe i’m wrong. I didn’t know the man.

Two different universes— one is military and the other is the political universe.

TRUMP is Patton. I have said that dozens of times, so, yes I agree.

And Patton had his whiners, his can’t-do crowd and his share of pearl clutchers circling him, throughout his career.

TRUMP, 2016

"With the economic recovery going in fits and starts,"

That's as far as I read before my BS meter pegged out.

Earlier this year I was watching all the Apprentice shows on Youtube.com, and this was before Trump announced he was going to run for Republican nomination of President.

I had gotten as far as year seven when he announced. By that time I had seen enough to realize that he was definitely conservative. So, I suggest if you have not seen the videos or they are distant in your memories, you should review them.

This is not for entertainment value but information gathering, and just a suggestion. You will discover who the man really is in these videos.

Trump is fearless with financial dealings.

But he has said more than once that he thinks the military men are braver than he is when it comes to actual fighting.

No, he’s not a military Patton, and I don’t think he would like the comparison.

Maybe this is just conjecture on my part but...

The catfight with Rosie...didn’t that start with Rosie and to establish himself as not a pushover didn’t he have to respond? And when Megyn Kelly brought it up he had no choice.

McCain...don’t know why he said that...didn’t seem necessary.

Playing fair...Trump isn’t appointed as general, he has to fend for himself especially at the beginning to establish his “don’t mess with me” aura. So I suspect that has something to do with his early counterpunches...otherwise he’d be an also ran.

hey, you don’t have to twist my arm. I like the guy.

if he wins the primary, i’ll vote for him.

if it’s tight between him and a rino and Cruz isn’t in the running, i’ll vote for him.

If it’s tight between him and Cruz, i’m voting for Cruz.

Yeah, read Carlo D’Este’s bio of Patton. He wasn’t above his share of catfights, esp. with the Brits, whom he detested. He always gigged Monty whenever he could.

Donald Trump is exactly like George Patton, if Patton had never fought in any war and had pleaded bone spurs as an excuse to avoid service.

Are you voting for Trump based on his impressive public office record? :)

I like Trump. I like Cruz more.

i’m voting for Cruz for reasons that are my own.

I was lucky. I was born in the US and don’t have to tell people or worry about being beat up because of who I vote for.

Although you sound kind of tough. Don’t want you having my address lol :)

Two different universes— one is military and the other is the political universe.

In which case, Trumpatton is a junior officer.
