Old Testament prophecy fulfilled before our eyes?

...

"The Harbinger" by Jonathan Cahn, a messianic rabbi from the Jerusalem Center-Beth Israel Congregation in Wayne, N.J., deciphers stunning connections between what some may think is a cryptic biblical prophecy to the news events happening right now, in our current time.

...

The key verse in question is Isaiah 9:10, which states: "The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars." (King James Version)

These words were first uttered by leaders in ancient Israel and in response to a limited strike by Assyria on the lands of Zebulun and Naphtali - an attack the prophet makes clear is actually part of a limited judgment by God against apostasy. It wasn't meant to destroy the nation, but to awaken it, according to most commentaries.

Historically speaking, the northern kingdom of Israel did not repent of its rebellion against God's commandments, and were eventually conquered and deported from their property by the ancient Assyrians. Eventually, the southern kingdom of Judah was also overcome by the Babylonians after the Jews refused to repent as well.

But in "The Harbinger," Cahn shows uncanny similarities between what's stated in Isaiah 9:10 to the 21st century events of 9/11 and the years afterward, suggesting America is currently under a time of focused judgment by Almighty God.

Reading "The Harbinger" now. The similarities to the fall of the ancient kingdom of Israel are incredible.

So the Shemitah thing didn’t play out, so Cahn is looking for that next big secret to reveal for book number 3.

No. This is just a replay of his last big secret. I can’t believe people still take this hack seriously.

The burden of Dama

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap

If you have to clip a verse out of context, you don’t have a prophecy fulfillment.

He admitted that the prophecy might not be exact about the Shemitah. He has a background to interpret the words of the Old Testament.

He spoke at a Prayer Breakfast and went into a hyper, loud rant. Some people walked out. He just got fired up like some preachers do, nothing particularly wrong with that.

But I know sinners can be redeemed and all that, but I don't like his hanging around on the Jim Bakker show with his new wife. They even went to Israel together.

He doesn't talk much about New Testament themes. One day he had communion on the above show, and used grape juice and gave no warning about confessing sins; it just didn't seem right.

But what do I know?

That is scriptural and I am waiting for that one. Wnd is right out there with the folks they push. Sometimes too too far.

The Harbinger was first. It was actually pretty interesting. It was also a good read.

On the other hand the Shemita could have been written on a napkin. It’s premise was interesting, but repeated over and over and over.

It was a horrible read.

I read the Harbinger. It was OK. Waited six months for the Shemitah from the library and I'm glad I didn't pay any anything out of pocket for it. The first half was unreadable, merely a strangely organized rehash of the Harbinger material. I put it aside for awhile and then couldn't get up the enthusiasm to go on to the second half.

As to your picture, I made the same point over a year ago,

That while prophecy watchers are waiting for Damascus to become a ruinous heap in some sudden and immediate sense, its really almost here already,

Sure I understand there is a feeling of urgency in Isaiah 17, but how far do we really have left to go, and where does it state this prophesied event will occur in one hour of one day. Whereas it does say clearly the timing element for Mystery Babylon’s destruction is one hour of one day and all her riches will come to nothing,

Recently I saw a rather skewed video on youtube about ‘Mystery Babylons true identity’ and the false prophet calling fire down from heaven. The video showed this person standing in front of a rebuilt temple (presumably in Jerusalem) and holding his hands up in the air ala Moses parting the waters and a fire came down from the sky,

However, like your graphic, I see this event already nearly here, meaning right now any would be enemy of the state deemed a person of interest (terrorist) could have a drone circling overhead their home at five miles out, completely unaware to the occupants of the home and being on some covert government hit list for not conforming to the evil Antichrist obamastate and that beast could call down ‘hell fire’ (missiles) from the sky, what really is the difference here? I used to wonder that it was nuclear bombs, but other nation states acquiring nuclear bombs could make war/detente against that, but not so for individual Christian enemies of the state failing to worship the beast, they would neither desire it nor have the necessary resources. Again, its just a matter of perception,

Who can make war with that? I mean as individual believers if the all powerful state perceived us “the enemy” and made the case to its adherents/citizens as being necessary for their own homeland peace and security,

And how could we (as individual believers) make war against that?

Again prophesy fulfilled but not in the way or manner that many are looking for it to arrive as some Cecile B Demille epic,

If you would like to follow the “prophesy updates” of someone who’s purpose is not to sell books, amaze and astonish people on TV (ie: the Jim Baker show), do interviews, and make money on all the above...... may I suggest the weekly prophesy updates given each Sunday as a special addition to his regular sermon by a pastor in a small church in Hawaii, Pastor JD Farag. Each Monday morning his latest update shows up on Youtube where he has a HUGE following. He does not make predictions, he puts into Biblical context the world events happening around us, and most importantly he ALWAYS sums it all up by reminding us of the importance of getting and staying right with he Lord as all this is unfolding. If I am remembering his Bio right, he is of Arab descent, but grew up as a Christian which I think allows him a greater perspective and understanding of what is happening in the middle east.

Seeing all the horrors happening around us, and especially being pointed to Bible prophesy which points to the great possibility that we are living in the end times can be very scary to most people. Pastor Farag has a way of assuring us that all this is God’s plan and He will take care of us through it all.

Here is a link to his Dec 27 update where he summarized the year coming to a close: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o56Gc5YBbk and you can find all his previous updates on you tube search.

I cannot help but chuckle every time I see or hear the name Harold Camping.

I was overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives on the day the world was to end. There was an especially active Naqbah (sp?) set of protests going on at the time as well.

Front row seats for the Apocalypse.
