See the world, before you leave it!

Jesus promises that Heaven awaits His followers, so why do elderly Christians spend so much time and money trying to delay going there?

“See the world” sounds a little more exotic than “travel in a motor home with her son.” That said, I hope they all enjoy themselves.

Why not spend one’s final months or years doing something enjoyable with family?

One MIGHT think that she had already DONE "something enjoyable with family" before this.
I guess her pain and discomfort levels aren't so bad that she IS ABLE to enjoy herself.

MANY years ago I was at a fair in another state. There was a fortune teller there and I thought it would be interesting to go to her. She "read" my palm.
She also told me when I was going to die...and that I shouldn't tell anyone. Balderdash.
SHE said that I was going to die at 82 years of age. How does she know? She doesn't. She was just stating the standard life span for healthy Americans.

I've got a ways to go before 82 years of age. NOT that long, but a good ways.

To be a success as a “fortune teller,” you mostly need to understand people, listen to them, and feed back what you learn.

So true. It also depends on the age, brains and maturity of the person's whose fortune is being "told." It IS all a con.

I once read a book on the origin of the "fortune tellers." Mostly they were Indians who migrated west to Europe. Things aren't always good in India.

Understatement.

Exactly what my grandmother did. Said I’m 83. Do I go through ‘H’ here on Earth for what little time is left, or just go see the World, and check out. She took off, and saw the World, then took up my Aunt’s invitation to check out at her place, and did.

==================================

I had always thought that Mexico was the dirtiest country in the world. I lived there for a couple of years when I was young.

Then my hubby and I lived in the middle east for five years and I thought that Mexico was CLEAN compared to the middle east.

Then we traveled to India for almost a month. I decided that the middle east was clean as a whistle compared to India. Wow.

Then we traveled to China for six weeks. China made India look clean and, to this day, I still KNOW that China is the filthiest place on the planet, bar none.

Fascinating. Some of my mother’s friends went to China, but she refused to go with them. She said Greece was filthy enough for her.

And all that makes me think the subject of the article has the right idea: “See the world” by driving around the U.S.

VERY smart woman, your mother.
Sad that Greece is so dirty. It doesn't have to be that way. It was the founding of our Western society. How the mighty fall.

I know the world better than my own country.

I STARTED to see the USA but got REAL tired of traveling. I just did too much over the decades. NOW I just want to stay home in my VERY nice home...and enjoy my life.
Also I got tired of traveling alone. No one I knew wanted to "see the USA" so I stay home now...MOST content.

When we got back to the USA for good, we landed in LAX.

As I walked down the L-O-N-G hallway from the plane I got down on my HANDS AND KNEES and kissed the linoleum at LAX. I was SO glad to finally be home in the USA for good!

Some people aim smaller than the whole world.

One of my college age sons friends spent his spring break weekend in Bradenton, FL. His grandpap decided against more treatment for recurring cancer. So he’s enjoying spring baseball training, family and sunshine.

More power to him!
