It’s not a good look for the convoy of a crusader against genocide to mow down a little African boy as her motorcade roars through a rural area at high speed (often exceeding 60 miles per hour on two-lane country roads), accompanied by a helicopter overhead, journalists in tow, eager for a photo op with refugees. But that was the situation facing Samantha Power yesterday in Cameroon. The Associated Press reports:
U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power’s trip to Cameroon’s front lines in the war against Boko Haram started horrifically today as an armored jeep in her motorcade struck and killed a young boy who darted into the road.
The incident occurred near the small city of Mokolo, in northern Cameroon, where Power, her aides and accompanying journalists were headed to meet refugees and others displaced by the years of brutal attacks across West Africa.
All those meetings included small children.
Power, a journalist, achieved fame, academic standing, fortune, and high office by self-righteously denouncing the callousness of Western powers in the face of genocide. But since becoming Barack Obama’s U.N. ambassador, she has remained in office as his administration stood by as hundreds of thousands were slaughtered in Syria, not resigning in protest. Those perks of office – like armored motorcades though impoverished areas afflicted by genocidal forces – must be hard to give up.
Power’s motorcade did not even stop:
The vehicle that hit the boy initially stopped, but was ordered by American security forces to continue traveling through the unsecured area. An ambulance in the U.S. caravan immediately attended to him.

Let’s see how Samantha handles this. Accidents happen. Cavalier arrogance, however, is a habit of thought.
To Samantha, it’s just a 31st trimester abortion. So, no biggie.
If this had happened under a Republican administration, there would be riots.
Liberals kill. The stench of death wafts around their presence.
Not her fault. We can blame her for suff she atually does. Kid darts in front of fast moving vehicle, its a reality the kid can end up dead even if the driver tries avoiding them.
There is nothing more dangerous on the road than a politicians motorcade.
I think just in the US there have been several cases of accidents in presidential motorcades that have killed people. And that’s not including JFK.

This was a tragic accident. I don’t see it as evidence she or her caravan were doing something wrong. They were traveling through enemy territory seeking safe passage.
She was upset at what had taken place, and did go to the family home and express sympathy for the family’s loss. Doing that was a high risk thing to do.
While I don’t approve of her politics, this was a very unfortunate incident. I approve of how she handled it.

What part of that would anyone want to crack?
What if she told the driver to step on the gas and drive at high speed? Samantha Powers is from Ireland. That is the way that the Irish drive. They drive over 70 mph. on narrow country roads. I have been to County Kerry where she comes from. I was terrified by the way those people drive.

Does not change the fact she cannot control a kid bolting out in front of a passing vehicle.
