As you have likely heard, on this past Saturday a 4-year-old boy fell into the gorilla habitat at the Cincinnati Zoo. A gut-wrenching decision was made by the zoo to shoot and kill the gorilla to protect the boy and rescue him from the habitat.
The fallout over the incident has taken a decidedly racist turn as the public has now discovered that the boy and his parents are black.
Laura Collins, in Cincinnati writing for the Daily Mail, published an absolutely despicable piece on the young boy’s parents, including every detail of his father’s criminal history.As you have likely heard, on this past Saturday a 4-year-old boy fell into the gorilla habitat at the Cincinnati Zoo. The actual lede and headline for her piece was all about how the young boy’s father, Deonne Dickerson, had committed crimes before. Buried deep in the story was the fact that he is gainfully employed and appeared to be a loving father from the myriad of photos found on him. The story, a hit job on Dickerson, has already been shared over 26,000 times on Facebook. Their tweet about his criminal history was one of their most popular of the day yesterday.
What Laura Collins and the Daily Mail fail to share is that it does not appear that the boy’s father was even at the zoo with his family on Saturday.
Even if he was there, do you sincerely think anyone would be talking about his criminal history if he was white? I don't.

Shaun must have missed out on the first news cycle when all the real racists thought the kid was white and said it was racist for killing the gorilla.

On the contrary Shaun. You need to get out more. Before everyone knew that the baby was black, there were an awful lot of BLM SJWs assuming the baby was white and screaming on line that they killed the gorilla because of white privilege, and that if the baby had been black, the gorilla would still be alive.
How does Shaun King, who is whiter than sour cream, have a dog in this fight?
The father’s history has no bearing on what happened. That the Mail would highlight it is yellow journalism at its most blatant.
Shaun King makes his money from racist rabble rousing. He even has a scam non profit fund that he looted illegally, and got caught.

We were asking where the mother was and what she was doing, long before we knew that the family was black.
When the kid went over, wouldn’t it be natural to scrutinize the parents?
Is the child being cared for properly by responsible adults?
Is the child being supervised better away from the zoo?
There is plenty of reason for the checking of the parent’s criminal backgrounds. This dad just happened to have a long rap sheet. It’s public record.
Maybe Shaun should have checked if parents of the other children injured/killed at zoos even had rap sheets before he went on his tirade.

It was individual blacks, and Black Lies Matter who started screaming racism long before the Daily Mail ran any story. I heard claims that the gorilla was shot because it was black. Essentially, such blacks are claiming kinship with the gorilla.
They started it when everyone thought the gorilla kid was a privileged white. Then they went - ‘oh wait, it’s racism cuz the go-rilla was black and they killed him”
First it was racist because the little boy was thought to be white.
Now, it is racist because the little boy is actually black?

Sometimes we ‘privileged whites’ simply cannot catch a break!
It may not be good journalism yet, but I think it is entirely within bounds for the zoo and the police to be curious as to how the child got into that enclosure. If the parents have a history of suing businesses or something then it may be possible they put the child there.
