My daughter and her husband are reconnecting with acquaintances in Peru where they were for a year. My grandson was born there and has a Peruvian passport. That makes obtaining permanent resident status much easier.

Seems cruise ships could be very vulnerable. International laws likely prevent CCW licensees from carrying.

Soft target, lots of people (Americans), no a lot of exits - yep, I'm staying off cruise ships.

I think the risk of stopping in Jamaica is even greater than the threat of ISIS. :)

LOL, went there in the late 80's, said I would never go back.

Saw this looking for a thread on the newly Obama granted access to Cuba for cruise ships.

Maybe a thread will appear.

I see a real mess as right now, U.S. citizens can board a cruise ship without a passport for any Mexico, Bahama, or Caribbean destination. I don’t see this being allowed if Cuba is added to most itineraries.

There is currently a rush by Obama-bots to push through ALL approvals for all ships to go to Cuba, before January 20th.
I despise this.

If this move trips the requirement for all to buy passports, they will lose more than 50% of their Caribbean cruisers.

With 2,000+ male passengers, many of whom have past military experience? It wouldn’t be as simple as attacking a lightly crewed cargo ship or even a commercial airliner. Too many opportunities for a group of passengers to outwit and overcome the attackers.
