A day after Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Owen was shot and killed during a burglary call, mourners gathered Thursday at the Lancaster sheriff’s station to pay their respects to a lawman whom one resident described as “one of the good ones.”
Just before 8 a.m., Bishop Vaughn stopped at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station to offer prayers for the fallen sergeant.
His first encounter with Owen wasn’t ideal. It was about eight years ago and the sergeant arrested him.
"That's how long we've been together, partners," Owen said. "He brought me a long way."
Vaughn now stays at a mental health facility not far from the Lancaster Sheriff's Station.
But he thinks often of Owen, who he said served as a mentor and a father figure.
"This guy, when I was in trouble, kept me straight," Vaughn said.
The night before, hundreds huddled near the entrance to the station to memorialize a lawman, a volunteer football coach, a community presence.
Deputies stood with tearful eyes. As the vigil ended, the crowd sang "Amazing Grace."

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of this officer.
This is the guy you never hear about when folks are explaining what police officers are all about.

Prayers up for his loved ones.
ANOTHER Police Officer Shot and killed:
Obama and Clinton YAWN.
Such a good man, loved by ALL..and it took ONE scum bag on parole to take that all away..RIP Sgt. Owen..we all salute your bravery
A policeman was killed last night.
He died while protecting your rights.
His creed was to protect and serve.
This fate he didn’t deserve.
A mom and dad have lost a son.
So many other jobs he could’ve done.
His wife and kids are left alone.
Their daddy won’t be coming home.
His fellow officers are hurt so deep.
For a fallen brother they weep.
The morning paper will print a story.
About a policeman who died in glory.
The flags will fly at half mast.
Politicians and citizens will seem sad.
The funeral is tomorrow at noon.
It will all be over very soon.
By next week they will have forgot.

Killer is “Trevon”? That must be the name of choice for black criminals. Check the arrest lists of violent protestors and criminals in the last 3 months. Lots of “Trevons”, “Treyvons”, Devontes’ and variations, etc.
On parole and had a gun. Well, so much for the LA criminal justice system and their vaunted gun-control. Both betrayed Officer Owen, but that is the norm in a California liberal/Marxist run city, and police officers die.
The local government, state legislature and Governor don’t give a shit. Platitudes and Latitudes about supporting the police, but in the end, the officers are killed and the politicians still are evil, corrupt, Marxists, and weirdos (but they don’t get killed. Often don’t live with “the folks” they represent).
The Clintons and Obama represent the leftist corruption and corrosion of America on a macro scale. California, esp. Oakland, LA, SF and few of the smaller crime-ridden Democrat run cities represent that corruption on the state level.
And we are stuck with former Governor/double-dipper, now Senator Tim Kaine, who is almost as dumb as Joe Biden and closing fast.
At least we are still armed and ready.

Maybe he’ll meet up with some inmates who liked Sgt. Owen.

I believe anarchist thugs are deliberately creating these dangerous situations in hope of baiting the police into an action that they can film, make money from, and use to push their agenda.
