Portions of a road in Orlando, Florida, have been shut down in after an eagle became stuck in a storm drain...

About 25 minutes into the rescue attempt, the eagle appearing to protect the trapped bird became agitated as a rescurer came too close and few away. The trapped eagle fell into the drain as it attempted to get away.

After about an hour into the process, workers were able to rescue the bird that fell into the drain after removing part of the structure.

Seems like a case of survival of the fittest to me. What self respecting eagle goes into a storm drain?

Florida has lots of Bald Eagles, they are magnificent birds. Some days I see 4 or 5 within a few miles. Especially this time of year.

Soaring like an eagle.

You’re doing it wrong.

Perspective is everything. What occured to me is that the difference between real civilization and fake civilization is the rescue of the bird.

Of course, whatever it is we have right now governing us will spend $100,000 on the bird rescue and still enable late term abortion. Talk about existential irony...

Nice photo!
The possum looks a bit ‘thin’?

This could very well be the same possum. I took this photo a few years ago and that pecan tree is only about 30 yards from the place where the eagle is eating.

Nice!
We have a good size mulberry tree, when the fruit is ripe most of the critters in the county stop by for an evening snack.Or so it seems?
All are welcome even the skunks, so long as they stay away from the dogs.

I put out a trail cam to see who stopped by.
Had a mama with the joeys(?) on her back, but it was low resolution.
