It’s all weight/diet....I lost 65 lbs when I diagnosed myself with pre-diabetes. Now sugar not an issue.

Nonsense. Sugars have been eaten for centuries. Ignore these diet alarmists. They are most always wrong.

...

Agreed. Age seems to be a contributing factor and from the Mayo clinic:

Type 2 diabetes develops when the body becomes resistant to insulin or when the pancreas stops producing enough insulin. Exactly why this happens is unknown, although genetics and environmental factors, such as excess weight and inactivity, seem to be contributing factors.

Type two diabetes is all about diet and exercise

How many cases are from the ‘migrant’ community

> They need to find a cure instead of treating it.<

.
There is no cure — it is self-imposed by improper diet. The only winner in this tragedy is the pharmaceutical industry. Do some research on youtube.

The food pyramid we were taught as kids in an absolute joke. That info, along with the no fat craze and lack of personal responsibility, has been responsible for the obesity problem we face.
Karl Denninger from the market ticker gives crap financial advice, but his tickers on health and diet are spot on.

I think the increase may have more to do with rising binge and heavy drinking rates than obesity rates. I just read recently that rising obesity rates do not always translate to a rise in diabetes. I know Great Britain has experienced an increase in alcoholism rates.

No grains.

I think we make a mistake when we throw all grains into the same basket. Generally, whole grains are real unadulterated food, whose construction allows for their slow digestion and slow spike in sugars being metabolized. "Refined" grains have a high glycemic index.

The person who discovers a cure for diabetic neuropathy will receive a nobel prize in medicine.

Diabetes is a deficiency of Chromium and Vanadium. These two minerals are responsible for transporting insulin from the pancreas, to the bloodstream. Diabetes 2 can be treated until the patient is removed from taking insulin. Type 1 cannot be cured, but they can supplement to the point where the insulin is being absorbed better, thus reducing the amount needed.

The causes of Type 2 are known, especially the continuously high insulin levels produced by crappy post-industrial diet. See Dr. Joseph Kraft and his insulin-assay analysis. You get insulin-resistant in the continual presence of high insulin levels.

The answers are well-known also: lower your insulin requirements by eating the right foods at the right times. For most this means some type of intermittent or periodic fasting. Go longer times without food. See Dr. Jason Fung for a more complete explanation.

Eating less processed foods is the best way to go.

Some sugary foods don’t include “sugar” on the ingredient list. That’s because sugar is often disguised under different names. Here are some hidden “sugar” words to look out for:

fructose (natural sugar from fruits)
lactose (natural sugar from milk)
sucrose (made from fructose and glucose)
maltose (sugar made from grain)
glucose (simple sugar, product of photosynthesis)
dextrose (form of glucose)

Eat the right amount of sugar

So, how much sugar is safe to eat? Women should have no more than six teaspoons per day (25 grams), and men should have no more than nine teaspoons per day (37 grams), says the American Heart Association. This equals to about 100 calories for women and 150 for men.

This diabetes epidemic started when we began to fear fats and replaced them with carbs. We have been given completely incorrect dietary advice for 40 years now.

So true. Food tastes like cardboard without fat, so they started adding high fructose corn syrup. Obesity, heart disease, and diabetes skyrocketed.

“How many cases are from the ‘migrant’ community”

The cases tend to shoot up after a time on our typical modern diet.

Another problem that will break the bank is the migrant autism rate. There are lots of overlapping factors that contribute to autism but it includes sanitation, diet, vaccinations and antibiotics affecting the microbiome (esp. gut bugs) of the immigrants.

Not at the levels they are eaten today. That, and refined carbs and NO exercise is causing type 2 diabetes at such high levels today. It's a behavior-induced disease and I have zero sympathy. Nor do my two type 1 diabetic children.
