On Monday, the six-month anniversary of the Pulse nightclub massacre, the city of Orlando kicks off an initiative designed to make lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people safer.

The Orlando Police Department will issue a new rainbow decal in the shape of a badge for offices, stores and organizations that want to participate.

"This location is a SAFE PLACE for victims of anti-LGBTQ crimes and harassment to call 911 and wait for police to arrive," it says.

The program is patterned after one created by the Seattle Police Department last year. The Orlando decal is nearly identical to Seattle's and the goal is similar: to provide temporary sanctuary for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people who feel threatened or have been the victims of crimes.

They can go inside and know it's a safe place from which to call 911 or that someone there will place the call on their behalf.

More of the same old fantasy.

When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

Want to be safe? Concealed carry.

Anything else is simply wishful thinking.

Bad idea. Soon, all vendors will be under pressure to display these colorful tokens of ‘nothing really’.

Since the Orlando Police violated every procedure in the book at the Pulse nigh club thereby allowing many more to die, this initiative might not make the protected class feel any better. In spite of the accolades the cops got immediately afterwards, further review finds that they did not make immediate entry and waited hours to finally try and clear the building of the gunman. People died because of their inaction and dithering.

So, a sign in the window that says “no muslims”? Or just “no jihadis”? “ISIS not welcome”? “No muslims with a conflicted sense of their own cultural and sexual identity”? “Wannabe jihadis please leave your weapons in the car”?

so the City of Orlando is NOT SAFE, only these silly places with these silly decals are safe, eh?

this is a terrible admission by the OPD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps:
just what makes a business that displays this silly decal....so safe all of a sudden...especially since the rest of Orlando is admittedly unsafe?????????????????????

maybe the decal is made out some sort of special space substance that will stop IslamoNazi terrorist bombs or bullets?????????????????????????????????? will the decal also stop the Islamic bombs if they’re made out of Kryptonite?

How ridiculous. And why should they merit more protection than the rest of us? Especially considering that they adhere to a deviant, unwholesome and immoral lifestyle? I am certainly not advocating that they be attacked, but I question granting special protection for them as opposed to any other group. And, if they are so afraid, maybe they shouldn’t love it up in the street. Other persecuted groups did not go and blatantly display their identities to the public for millennia and no one provided them “special protection”.

Oddly, the last time I was threatened for being gay was actually in Fort Lauderdale. I can’t see Orlando as a gay-unfriendly town.

Oh and not gay.

Typical meaningless b.s. from the left. Businesses best beware—the first time a gay person is injured on premises, there will be a lawsuit saying “You promised to protect me, and warranted this to be a ‘safe space’, yet you took no steps to actually protect anyone, so give me my money!”

Why is it that people who scream “tear down the wall” want to hide behind four walls and a locked door ?

The Orlando police needn't fear.Soon there will be an Administration in DC that will strive mightily to make the entire country a “safe space” from terrorism...including terror attacks directed at Pervert Americans.

Of course! They all have a "Nerf Ball Rifle" at the ready! Seriously, Orlando is just San Francisco 20 years ago and falling fast!

Life is not like that. There are no safe places to be away from the knockout “game” or from muzzards setting off bombs.
