Well my old windows 8 computer is slowly dying. I have a HP running windows 10 and want to have email like I used to. This new computer will not accept Win live mail or classic shell. Help needed. Thanks in advance.
Look for the nearly invisible 'Download now' link. Windows Essentials 2012 is a suite of programs on one installer package. I would uncheck all except Windows Live Mail 2007.
Of course I cannot be held responsible for your personal experience with this, but I have been pretty happy with my result. nb: YMMV
I’ve had enough stand alone mail clients die and take everything.
Gmail and the like are better to me.

mail is a unified web based platform. you can’t loose anything unless your account gets hacked and deleted. If you have set the recovery info even if the computer is stolen you can wipe and disable the hardware while having access to the info you let to the cloud. Office is a different breed. depending on your settings you could lose everything, however if you use live to handle contacts and set a longer removal time from the server those issue can be mitigated. Also having multiple backup paths can ensure recovery. Office 360 comes with 100tb of cloud if I remember for the 4 license. for mail, backup the pst every day to a thumb drive and your all good.
4th vote for Thunderbird.
I used Outlook Express until they took it away. Thunderbird was the next best thing. I can’t remember how I got all my e-mail over to it, but it’s probably an easy Google search away.
The other great thing about Thunderbird is that it will usually configure itself to get e-mail from big providers.
Try Opera Mail.

I think were talking past our selves. Hotmail/live is always available as a web based platform. So open explorer, edge, chrome etc. type Hotmail.com. from there you get to a live logon page. type in your credentials and you should be good to go. Those are the same credential you’ll use for the mail app in 10.
Dang. It wasn’t that long ago that Pegasus mail was always mentioned as an Outlook alternative.
I’m still on Win7 but have been pleased with Thunderbird for a long while - it recently added calendar appointments and tasks functionality and I’ve never had any trouble with it.
Gosh, I have the exact opposite experience. I have been running for awhile now and really like it. Finding it much more stable than even Windows 7.
I use Thunderbird. I tried the Windows 10 mail program when it first came out, but didn’t see anyway to block remote content.
No I meant I cannot get my hotmail through the Windows Live Mail. I still get my hotmail emails, but now I have to use a browser, like you said. Before I converted to Win 10 I used the Windows Live Mail to read all of my email accounts.
go to store click the person icon to the left of search scroll to updates, update your apps. then open mail and delete your live account settings. then reenter your email address and password.
