That’s exactly right, in my opinion. I thought there would have to be a record turnout if Trump was going to win, I was wrong. Eligible turnout % was less than in 2008 and 2012. Look out if they manage to nominate a candidate that is more appealing than maggoty roadkill.
We haven’t even had 65% eligible voter turnout since 1908, despite millions and millions being spent on campaigns. That could be a good thing or bad thing. And all that money is spent to sway the swayable, the dumbest 10% of voters who still manage to vote but vote one way and then another for generally no rational reason.

Personally I am convinced that if the Dems ever get control of both houses of Congress and the Presidency (God forbid!) they are going to implement rules where you will have to show proof of having voted in order to receive welfare, food stamps, student aid, or any other sort of government benefit.
Turnout over 70% will certainly result in Marxist-Leftist rule.
