President George W. Bush and his wife Laura Bush will attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration this month.
In a statement Tuesday, the former presidents office said the Bushes are pleased to be able to witness the peaceful transfer of power a hallmark of American democracy and swearing-in of President Trump and Vice President Pence.
The decision makes Bush the second living president to attend Trump's inauguration ceremonies. President Jimmy Carter announced his decision to attend last year.
President George H.W. Bush, 92, is not expected to attend. His spokesman cited his advanced age in a statement to Politico last month about the president's decision not to attend the inauguration.
President Bill Clinton has not announced whether he will attend the event after Trumps contentious presidential race against his wife, Hillary Clinton.
President Obama is expected, as per custom, to attend inauguration events at the Capitol building before departing.

Looks like somebody is starting to realize they are becoming an embarrassment to themselves
Frikken nice of him.
Good news. I never entertained a doubt that Dubya would attend.
That’s really big of him.
Is his +1 gonna be 1/2-brother Bill
So when is Obama’s farewell address?
After or before Trump’s speech.
I expect The Won will have to be pried from the viewing stand.
Rumor said Bibi would like to attend.
Park his chair directly behind Barky’s...
The Bush family has shredded any respect I once had for them.
Far to little, far too late.
Whatever the reason, I'm glad that GWB is attending. It's about time the 'pubs who schemed against DJT WAKE UP, show some unity, and not let Insane McCain plunge cause a world war.
I honestly don’t care whether George Bush attends this inauguration or not. He is history and should remain history. I hope he keeps up his tradition of keeping his mouth shut about the current president’s policies.
I couldn’t agree more.
“The decision makes Bush the second living president to attend Trump’s inauguration ceremonies.”
All the dead ones will be there?
92 isn’t all that advanced
It is bad when a very old Jimmy Carter has better reflexes than you do.
I am not a fan of W at all, indeed I think that, along with his father, he was the most destructive and failed Republican president since at least Harding, perhaps longer. Most of the massive economic and foreign policy failures of the past 28 years can be said to at least in part come out of the abject failures of Bush 1&2.
But he made the correct decision here.
It took them long enough to figure that out.
They all voted for Hillary, that is the extent of their civic duties.
President Bill Clinton has not announced whether he will attend the event after Trumps contentious presidential race against his wife, Hillary Clinton
This is out there to keep Hillary from throwing lamps etc at Bill. I believe the ‘bent one’ is secretly relieved. Some of the stupid remarks he made during the campaign were definitely NOT helpful to her heinous.
Yes, it is. Good for him.
