Bones of 19th century prison ship inmates, which have been buried in mudbank, are not being uncovered.

Human bones including skulls, teeth and vertebrae, litter the shoreline on grisly Deadman's Island off the coast of Sheppey, Kent.

The uninhabited mudbank, which lies just 40 minutes from central London, was used as a mass burial ground for criminals who died on board prison ships, like those referenced in Charles Dicken's novel Great Expectations, in the 1800s.

A Prison ship?

You mean we can just build a ship and put them on it. Send them out to sea?

Prison ships were usually old dismasted “hulks” that were anchored in harbors. Hard to escape from, impossible to tunnel out of.

Docked off the Bronx in Long Island Sound, the Vernon C. Bain Correctional Center prison barge is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest operational prison ship in the world.

There are lots of bones of our Revolutionary War heroes around New York harbor that came off of the British prison ships.

Seems one MFM is in dire need of proof readers. No money to hire? Income must be dismal.

Take a guess: should be NOW rather than not.
Chances are AA has raised its ugly head once again. Cheap labor = no English.

Lord Dunsany wrote a short story in the early 20th century about how the dead could find peace if buried at sea, and they could find peace if buried in the earth.

The story was about a man so evil that he was buried along the tide line. Sometimes in the earth, sometimes at sea, the dead man never had peace. At one point his body was found and buried inland — but descendants of those whom he had wronged found him and buried him once again at the tideline.

He must have passed away. His last post was on 7/16/2016, and then nothing. I thought maybe sinkenciv was perhaps a NeverTrump person, but that was not the case either after seeing some of his responses that lead me to believe he supported Trump.

From my readings, they were referred to a prison "barges".

During the American Revolution, the dumping of convicts sentenced to "deportation" to the colonies was restricted, probably because "why add to the enemy's numbers?"

One exception was screened ruthless convicts/deportees recruited to be British "mercenaries" in the Western, less-populated parts of the thirteen colonies. More often than not, they were just sadistic raiding and pillaging bands intended to punish the rebellious colonists.

Any way, all the deportees were piling up in vessels moored in the Thames, and one or more caught fire.

That spurred the push to dump them in Australia as indentured servants to the settlers. In general, the Scot cons thought it was great to get as far away from the English king as possible. However, the Irish cons carried with them that big chip on their shoulders.

We should bring back prison ships. Use our mothballed navy ships. Anchor them 3.1 miles out and fill them with illegals waiting to be processed, instead of the current catch and (release based on a “promise” they will to return to court)

I had no idea there was a modern day prison barge. Here's a photo of it, it really is huge.

There was one in San Francisco harbor back around the 1850s.

During the Revolutionary War the English used old ships as prisons and threw dead prisoners overboard in New York harbor. Until the 1890s bones washed in on Walabout bay Broklyn.

So do I, his threads often came as relief/welcome informative distraction from the unrelenting raging battling against the dying of light (the 'light' of Western culture) ...

Maybe, I don't know as for now (these months later) but first, he was run off, from here. That I do seem to recall, yet cannot point to which exact threads he was given enough guff to make the choice to leave (as he was at one point also rudely and unjustifiably asked to do -- if memory serves).

Robert DeLong said;

I do believe you are correct.

Not a "never" Trumper, but (again, if memory serves) was not beyond occasionally expressing criticism of D.J. Trump. That was enough to send some of the shallowest among mouth-breathers here into conniption fits. False allegations against SunkenCiv then followed, and some moderator or another was apparently taken in by such? Something like that...

MrEdd said;

What was he supposed to do? Hang out and keeping taking abuse? There are freepers here whom have long also posted on another forum, the one to which I get the impression you are referring. But yes, there were (and possibly still are) some vocal "never-Trumpers" on that site. Short-sighted of them to take that position, wasn't it? Trump may well be just the guy we needed, and none other among potential candidates if any of those had won (which they may have) be able to accomplish what he has already, and is likely to accomplish in the future. The Hildabeast being who she was --- and hated (I hate er with a hot heart, no bones about it) made her a bad candidate for the Democrats. Trump must have seen his chance-- now, or never, and did whatever he had to do to win. We do need a fighter, not a mere philosopher, or one with good intentions but constantly looking over his shoulder at the hounds (of Hell -- that would be the DemonCrats, and the lying, spin-doctoring, stumbling-block emplacing, mainstream media) at his heels.

Forum stalking (and accusations of persons being "never-Trumpers") was in vogue six months back. One of the chief protagonists/perpetrators of that kind of thing, the one who's tagline said "mop-up Zot operations underway" or something similar should have been zotted, himself (for relentlessly attacking freepers for them daring to utter less than worshipful comments regarding Trump).

God zotted that one, right out of the land of the living. God's forum is BIGGER. Something to think about. We will all of us eventually be called to account for [even] every idle word...

Prison ships? pretty grim, that, eh?

Reading the headline brought to mind a lyric mentioning prison moons and prism ships...

I'll leave it to the reader to see how that uh, artistic setting of cultural tableau may be fitted to how the world can at times, appear to be and function.
