How Does One Get an AK-47 or Similar Rifle in Canada? (Quebec City Mosque shooting)
Self | February 4, 2017 | PJ-Comix

Posted on 02/04/2017 10:27:44 AM PST by PJ-Comix

Perhaps one of you Canadian Freepers can answer this: How difficult is it for someone in Canada to have an AK-47 or similar rifle in his possession? I was under the impression that it was basically impossible.

Reason for this question is that the alleged suspect in the Quebec Mosque shooting is reported to have had an AK-47 or similar rifle in his possession.

...on a positive note, We buy anything by Norinco, from 600 dollar ARs to Type 97 Bullpups and decent knockoffs of Sigs and Berettas.

I got mine at a gun show.
They have ‘em at gun shops too.

Don’t know about Canada though.

I love mine, it’s awesome. Got it for $450, spent $150 on upgrades.

They are more costly these days though.

Modified SKS,they’re not restricted and only a couple of hundred dollars

Okay, that explains it. I too was wondering. So what we were actually dealing with was a case of this:

a few years back a bunch of us got together and bought AK parts kits for $79 each. These were live guns that had had the receiver de-milled. We got new receivers and other 922r compliance parts and built them ourselves for about $180. Probably not as pretty as yours, but a fun thing to do.

Oh, it ain't pretty but it is fun as hell.
We usually let young ladies fire it because it's pretty tame.

Point being.. anybody could drive one across the border
into Canada I figure. How close do they check, really?

“Lone Wolf” may be a deliberate misrepresentation of who these predators really are. They are no more a “lone wolf” than a military sniper, lying in wait for targets of opportunity, then if they are fortunate, fading away into the surrounding cover to resurface again elsewhere. But all the while there is a support network, funneling weapons and ammunition, supplying intel, for designated targets, and providing the means of positioning, Obviously, the problem of extraction is not worked out, but these “lone wolves” are of suicide mission mindset anyway. And by using the “cell” to cut off any obvious trail that would lead to higher echelons in the clandestine network, the myth of the “lone wolf” is fostered still further.

I know that AK-47s are not legal in Canada. However, I believe the Czech VZ-58, which superficially resembles the AK, and fires the same round, is legal there.

SKS rifles were about $200 USD in about 2003. These days, look more in the $400 range. In fact, Classic Firearms has Serbian police trade-ins for $3999 for a crate of 10 with all the goodies, plus a cool wooden crate.

I was wondering about this, because none of the earlier reports seemed to mention what kind of weapons were used. I know it’s probably not to difficult to own a hunting rifle in CA, but what about anything semi-auto?

Into Canada?.....Sure, just as long as you fill out the appropriate paper work and pay the fee.

Of course you may be able to smuggle one thru but if you get caught.......LOL!

I’ve driven across the border 2-3 times.
Every time I and car were searched. The last time (and it will be my last time) I just wanted to show my wife Niagara Falls .
Told them I was from NC, guess they thought I was smuggling cigarettes.
Took my car and luggage apart. Not really, no pulling panels , etc.
Anyway we sat there , me fuming, holding my tongue.

Absolutely ruined the trip. Couldn’t wait to get out of there.
Never ever again will I grace Canada with my presence .

Terrorists and criminals don’t follow gun laws. They could be ordered online easily, or smuggled in, or perhaps manufactured illegally.

Banning guns don’t stop criminals.

“We flood communities with so many guns that it is easier for a teenager to buy a Glock than get his hands on a computer or even a book.”
- Barack Hussein Obama (former dictator wannabe)

I assume you get an AK-47 the same way you get a Glock - buy it on the street corner from the same son of Obama that you buy recreational drugs from.
