Bob Miller to retire as Kings' play-by-play announcer
Los Angeles Times ^ | March 2, 2017 | Helene Elliott

Kings broadcaster Bob Miller has relinquished his microphone, a reluctant decision but one that was strongly recommended by his doctors to safeguard his health after he underwent quadruple bypass surgery early in 2016, suffered a mini-stroke three months later, and had another stroke in January.

Miller, 78, was in his 44th season calling Kings games. He had cut back his schedule drastically and eliminated travel to games outside Pacific Division cities, but even that reduced workload proved too much.

In So Cal I was lucky to grow up listening to three of the best sports casters ever: Chick Hearn (Lakers), Vin Scully (Dodgers) and Bob Miller.

Bummer I can hear none of them no more. Another piece of my youth gone.

From the article: Miller did say that he wants to do two more games, the Kings’ final games this season, April 8 and April 9, and that will be it.

Ditto, knew no other Dodger announcer, Vin was there before I was born. There have only been two Kings Announcers. Also Dick Engburg did a nice stint with the Rams and Angels back in the day, another Hall of Famer. Chickie Baby, what more can you say.

This is sad news.

Glad he was around for the two recent Cup wins.

The Best Ever Chick Hearn: “Baylor drives, passes back out to Jerry, into Wilt...SLAM DUNK! Lakers up by 20!”

LA was lucky to have such an awesome trio of broadcasters.

Vin was there before everyone was born. He first called games at Ebbets Field for the Brooklyn Dodgers...
