HE was an astronaut on the second manned mission to the moon and the fourth man to walk on its surface.

Alan Bean, 85, is one of only 12 people to have taken “one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind” on the moon.

How do I know we haven’t been visited by aliens?

The human race has not been wiped out.

I don’t think outer space people are visiting; but I guess Bean doesn’t believe in the sense of a ‘Prime Directive’...

Something happened 6,000 years ago, or thereabouts, when mankind suddenly went from inhabiting jungles to constructing monoliths. Just saying.

Was that before or after the Hanging Gardens of Babylon were built?

“I do not believe that anyone from outer space has ever visited the Earth,” Mr. Bean told news.com.au from his home in Houston, Texas.

“One of reasons I don’t believe they have been here is that civilizations that are more advanced are more altruistic and friendly — like Earth, which is better than it used to be — so they would have landed and said ‘we come in peace and we know from our studies you have cancer that kills people, we solved that problem 50 years ago, here’s the gadget we put on a person’s chest that will cure it, we will show you how to make it’. Just like some day, say 1,000 years from now, when we can go to another star and see a planet, that’s what we would do because we will know how to cure cancer, cure birth defects, so we would teach them.” …
I guess a part of Mr. Bean’s mind did not return to earth with him.

There's also the problem that any alien life would be 1000 times more different from us genetically than we are from a sponge or a bacterium.

And what happens when their "cure" is to sterilize anyone who has or whose reasonably near family members have gotten cancer to try to eliminate susceptibility to cancer from the species.

Mankind DID start to signal *somebody* with the pyramids, Nazca lines, etc. thousands of years ago. Out of fear, hope?

I can’t see aliens as a good thing. We have our own, anyway, like Valerie Jarrett.

If you go our there an actually find “Life”, it’s not a good idea to bring it back for Study. Never trust an “Alien”.

It was an interview with an 85 year old hero who walked on the moon. Sure, it’s not breaking news, but I thought it was interesting. He’s entitled to his opinion, like everybody else.
