Alan Bean is a very cerebral man. He is still in awe of what he saw in/from space and on the surface of the moon.
I bought one of his paintings many years ago. It showed the Earth as seen from the Moon. I call it “Earthrise” though I think it has another proper name.
Gave the painting to my son as a permanent gift. It was signed by Bean, Pete Conrad (now deceased) and Dick Gordon. I had already bought a copy of his book of his space drawings/paintings, which he autographed, but he gave me another to go with the painting.
If you have seen the film about the moon walkers and their command pilots, you will know that Alan Bean is probably the gentlest man you’ll ever meet, here on Earth or on the Moon. And a brave one too.
It was an honor to meet and talk with him.

The transition of man from cromagnun to modern man took about 150 thousand years give or take. What changed man and why is still up for conjecture. The book “Them + Us” gives one possible and compelling answer, Neanderthal Predation theory. I like this book.
