Will Trump shake up his inner circle with imports from the Establishment?
Conservative Review ^ | 04/07/2017 | Robert Eno

After a tumultuous first 75 days in office, there are reports that President Donald Trump is looking at a major shakeup of his inner circle. Mike Allen, reporting at Axios, reported that both Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon may be out. Priebus as chief of staff has been a mistake from the beginning. Any schadenfreude conservatives may feel over this development should be tempered by thoughts of what may come next. The four names reported by Allen are all creatures of the swamp Trump professes to want to drain.

With the failure to repeal Obamacare marring the start of Trump’s presidency, there have been media reports of power struggles within the West Wing. Trump seems to be taking a more leftward bent with the further promotion of his daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner. Just this week it was learned that Ivanka met with Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards and other liberal special interest groups.

If Trump is planning a pivot left and the four people Allen highlighted are accurate, conservatives could find a lot to be wary about in the coming months of the Trump administration. The list includes lobbyists and a congressman who puts ambition over principle. Here are the reported contenders to replace Priebus, should he be forced out.

Mike Allen was a cofounder of Politico. He has started Axios, as if the web needed more rabid leftist sites.

I don’t know about a likely replacement, but Priebus isn’t any conservative and he’s a butt buddy of Ryan’s and Walker’s neither of whom have been in Trump’s corner from the get-go. Frankly, I was concerned about Priebus’ appointment when it was announced.

Although this thing about Trump making “a pivot to the left” might just be a new false narrative the democrats are concocting.

Now that so many of their recent false narratives are falling apart.

“While officials can lose access to intelligence, or worse, for failing to disclose foreign contacts, the forms are often amended to address lapses. Jamie Gorelick, Mr. Kushner’s lawyer, said that the questionnaire was submitted prematurely on Jan. 18, and that the next day, Mr. Kushner’s office told the F.B.I. that he would provide supplemental information.”

If both men were to be replaced by any of the above on this list, it would be a setback for the conservative movement.

I'm not that concerned about the "conservative movement". I want to see the anti-globalist, pro-sovereignty movement Trump represented during the campaign growing and accomplishing the goals he set forth.

Let the globalist regain control of everything and you can forget conservative movements and most anything else other than the policies preferred by the Uniparty, which have been in force for the past several decades.

It was the failure of Conservative, Inc. that fueled the rise of Trump.

Conservative, Inc. cares more about hawking books, rubbing elbows at CPAC, and writing columns for TownHall than they are at actually working to resolve the issues.

These kids of Trump - Jared and Ivanka and even Donald Jr. who is now thinking of running for Governor - they need to just focus on the family business and get out of Trump's hair. I don't trust Jared. We have a golden opportunity to stop the reckless advance of leftism on America and it's getting pissed away.

I cannot believe Trump is considering Kevin McCarthy from California as COS. McCarthy is a complete idiot.

Trump sold us out for a share in the Pipeline thru Syria...a goal that Hillary and Obama worked on for years...he “Made a Deal”, which is what he is famous for...that’s why the patriots are being expunged, and replaced with Establishment puppets and CFR whores. He sold us out, how blind do you have to be? Keep fumbling over yourselves to justify him furthering the Obama/Hillary agendas...You’ll only be disappointed. SOLD OUT.

I really don’t believe much of this garbage. Any good CEO will often have advisors with wildly divergent opinions so even if there is some friction between elements of the inner circle (Big If) it should be a positive to the discussion.

The more concerning element in all of this is Ivanka. As anyone who knows me on this forum, I’m all in for Trump and trust him to do what is right. I think his first few months have been decidedly conservative, in fact, more so than even the sainted Reagan. But Ivanka worries me only because it is well known that of all the Trump children she holds the most sway with him. And as a parent, it is often difficult to not be influenced by your kid. Jared doesn’t bother me, Ivanka does. But...that said, I’ve got to trust Trump on this. He hasn’t disappointed me yet.

Rumors of shake-ups have been in the media since the first week of the Trump administration.

The narrative does not depend on the rumors being correct, only that the rumors get circulated in the press to indicate instability within the Trump administration. And, it keeps ‘unnamed’ or ‘anonymous’ sources gainfully employed by the media.

==

3/4 of the rumors since Trump won the election have proved to be false.

The media just ignores the ones the don’t pan out and move on to the next one, which is usually also unsubstantiated.

That is their game. That is all they have.

Divergent opinions, okay. Divergent goals, hell no. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm concerned that Trump has cabinet members and WH staff and advisors who share opposite goals concerning key issues.

Some want to build the wall, some don't

Some want get tough on trade and rework key agreements, and some don't.

Some want to stay out of most foreign entanglements, some want to jump in head first.

There are others.

Administrations do not need key people working for opposite goals and results on critical issues.

I'm afraid that might be the case, but hope it isn't.

Time will tell.

That needs repeating, and in BOLD:

They have bastardized the meaning of 'conservative/conservatism' to the point even they can't really define it any more.

Is it the George Will branch or the Bill Kristol branch or the Paul Ryan branch or the Jeb Bush branch or the Rush Limbaugh branch or the Michael Savage branch or the Mitt Romney branch, et al?

It has become a litmus word they invoke to stir passion.
