What you think you know about autism might be a lie

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one of every 68 children born in the United States has autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Though all races, ethnicities and socioeconomic groups are affected by ASD, myths and misunderstandings still persist in media, schools and workplaces — that childhood vaccines are a cause has been disproved, yet the rumor refuses to die. April is World Autism Awareness month, so we spoke with Dr. Joseph Buxbaum, a molecular geneticist and neurobiologist who directs the Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment at Mount Sinai Health System, to separate fact from fiction.

What is autism spectrum disorder?

Autism spectrum disorder is a complex developmental disorder affecting brain development. ASD is characterized by difficulties in social interaction, deficits in verbal and nonverbal communication and the presence of restricted or repetitive behaviors, including sensory symptoms.

The severity and presentation of symptoms vary across individuals. ASD is about four times more common among boys than girls. Due to increased public awareness, improved diagnostic tools and research in this area, more cases are identified and at younger ages. Early diagnosis is important because it can lead to earlier treatment, which research has linked to more positive outcomes.

What causes autism spectrum disorder? Vaccines are definitely not linked to it, correct?

There is strong data indicating that genetics are a predominant cause of autism. There are numerous, very compelling epidemiological studies that have clearly disproven any connection between autism and vaccines. One of the primary missions of the Seaver Autism Center is to investigate causes of autism. We take a genetics-first approach to this investigation. We expect there to be about 1,000 genes in the human genome for autism.

"One of the primary missions of the Seaver Autism Center is to investigate causes of autism. We take a genetics-first approach to this investigation." Dr. Buxbaum is most likely biased to his belief that autism is "genetic" since I am sure he gets $$$ to prove it is.

On the other hand this peer reviewed study was recently published, http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/0300060517693423 Abstract The wide range of factors associated with the induction of autism is invariably linked with either inflammation or oxidative stress, and sometimes both. The use of acetaminophen in babies and young children may be much more strongly associated with autism than its use during pregnancy, perhaps because of well-known deficiencies in the metabolic breakdown of pharmaceuticals during early development. Thus, one explanation for the increased prevalence of autism is that increased exposure to acetaminophen, exacerbated by inflammation and oxidative stress, is neurotoxic in babies and small children. This view mandates extreme urgency in probing the long-term effects of acetaminophen use in babies and the possibility that many cases of infantile autism may actually be induced by acetaminophen exposure shortly after birth."

I am posting this in honor of Autism awareness month. The media censors any and all information about VAXXED, here'a a link to their website. They have documented over 6,500 cases of vaccine injuries including autism and death. Please be aware and do your research, don't assume that the drugs are safe just because a doctor wants to inject them into you.

From the link above. “We can all agree there’s nothing more important than the health and safety of our children…
Parents should be informed about both the benefits and the risks associated with vaccines — without pressure, propaganda, or agenda.

So we brought together more than 60 of the world’s foremost health experts to investigate both sides of this contentious debate to give you the science, the history, and the untold story… the REAL information you need to make an informed decision on how to best protect your child.

The Truth About Vaccines is a 7-episode documentary series that airs starting April 12 – 19. Register above to get special access to watch the whole thing for FREE.”

I think the final episode is showing today but I believe they will have all 7 episodes available for viewing later.

I don’t agree with the article but I know the link between vaccines and autism is being censored by the media, big pharma, gov pro vax propagandists, those that profit from vaccines, etc.

Since it is autism awareness month I thought we should be in on the debate here on FR. I hope President Trump will push for a complete investigation into the phenomena of child getting immunization, child developing autism sometimes within hours of the shot. It is no coincidence.

You are correct. Believe the Kennedy associated with Special Olympics has met with Trump on this and if memory serves they’ve offered a reward for a person who can prove the link between innoculations and autism.

Yes, because autism is SO BAD that we who have it should have died from disease instead, rather than inconvenience anyone else around us. Everyone knows that our lives aren’t worth living.

Robert Kennedy jr was on imus the other day. He is doing a lot of work on this. Even he gets shut down though.

The vaccines get looked at because many kids go in to get them and come out with marked personality changes

Autism existed long before vaccines. We are only recognizing it now. But it’s awfully coincidental that many of the kids I know that are on the spectrum, have a parent on it as well.

The difference being that people like me weren’t allowed to indulge it. We didn’t have Xboxes. We had books. We learned to adapt. We learned to cope. Kids don’t learn that now. They get a pill and they feed it with video games.

DISCONTINUING anti-depressants is associated with higher rates of autism.

There’s a very special warning in that claim: Researchers first noted the high rate of anti-depressant usage among mothers whose children had autism. So natch, everyone stop using your anti-depressants as soon as you find out you may be pregnant, right? Well, no: THAT was what was causing the autism, apparently. Mothers who STAYED on the anti-depressants they had been taking all along did NOT have a higher rate of autism.

As for all that anti-vaccination crap: BULL!

I won't even click on the link! What a crock! Pure logic, honey: you cannot have a genetic epidemic!!!

By sheer logic and science, there is something destroying these babies' neurosystems from their environment. This could be toxins in utero, it could be the number of vaccines given to infants without their own immune systems (some are harmed and some are not - why? Could it be the right bacterial biome of that baby, or his genetics?), it could be products, foods, pesticides, we just don't know yet.

Only an idiot could believe that the epidemic of autism spectrum is purely due to genes.

One in 68 is “on the spectrum.” That is NOT how many have autism. And there’s where the huge rate of increase comes from: we’ve gone from measuring those disabled by autism to measuring those “on the spectrum.”

Heck, I’m probably on the spectrum.

Some clues my wife was taught to look for for signs of autism among high school students:

Delayed sexual activity.

Fan of science fiction.

Likes numbers, chess, computer programming, etc.

” There are numerous, very compelling epidemiological studies that have clearly disproven any connection between autism and vaccines.”

This is an outright lie. There have been CDC Scientists who have come forward and admitted that they faked the numbers to cover up clear connections between vaccines and increased incidence of Autism in African Americans.

I definitely hope the President and First Lady will find it in their hearts to push for true scientific method studies on injecting multiple neurotoxic vaccines to newborns. No one has ever done this.

One in 68 is a lot! That isn’t even addressing all the other chronic childhood illnesses that didn’t plague so many in the past.

On top of that when the CDC and most pediatricians recommend that newborn babies are inoculated for Hep B, a disease that they are not likely to be exposed to unless they are drug abusers or promiscuous, it should make most thinking people realize they are not making good recommendations.

Heck, I’m probably on the spectrum.

I'm glad I went to elementary school when I did. I got to be just a kid. I shudder to think of what I would be diagnosed with (and medicated/poisoned for) if I were a schoolboy today.

There's money from Fedzilla in them thar diagnoses ...

It’s more now. Vaccination of infants is increasing due to liberal government forcing. Ask preschool teachers. It’s probably 1 in 30 now. That are fairly obvious. There are many children with lesser autism symptoms that go 7 or 8 years before diagnosis.
