I thought for a minute he may have played Billy Jack at one point, but I was wrong.

I too remember him from “Then Came Bronson”.

Yes Then Came Bronson. Described as Route 66 cut in two with a Harley replacing the Corvette

I enjoyed his performances in his roles.

You know, I watch some old shows I used to like once in a while. Remington Steel, Fall Guy..., it’s sort of painful to watch the shows seem so much less polished than they are today.

The stories were better because they didn’t get so ugly, but the production values were pretty bad sometimes.

Ugh, both my parents are 77. I know it’s coming but I know I’ll never get over it when it does.

He could sing a bit, too. Here’s the shows’ end theme, “Long, Lonesome Highway” :

Well, we didn’t have hi-def and we didn’t have HBO. But we did have standards. I tend to watch tv comedies like Dick Van Dyke rather than hour long dramas or mysteries.

I really enjoyed the Dick Van Dyke show. I also liked the Andy Griffith show. Boy did Andy do a swan dive.

I liked Father Knows Best, Leave it to Beaver, Bonanza...

Lassie was a favorite growing up. My Friend Flicka was as well.

Of course the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, and Hop Along Cassidy were also mainstays.

Same here. I even bought his record album. Then Came Bronson was a great show. Would like to find some episodes.

“He gave up Bill”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Never saw the movie, heard of it though. Haven’t generally cared much for movies since the mid-1980s. My best memory of him is, as I sez, from “Bronson”.
What was good about all those shows, is that they presented clear morals. There was a very clear right from wrong, and right always prevailed.
It’s shocking what they present to children these days.
We are an imperfect people and we always will be, but at least in our culture we should present a “good face” on things for our kids.
Society has gone over the hill. Now our media makes no pretense of being any better.
Many of the popular science fiction movies deliver incredibly conflicting morals.
