Former James Bond star Roger Moore has died after a battle with cancer, his family confirmed Tuesday. He was 89.

Moore, who epitomized James Bond in seven films from 1973 to 1985, died in Switzerland “after a short but brave” cancer fight, according to a statement released by his three children.

“The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone,” said Moore’s kids, Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian.

One of the coolest and best-looking men on TV or in the movies. I watched him as Simon Templar, “The Saint”, when I was a kid in England.

I loved him as “The Saint” but he was a terrible James Bond. He will be missed.

A sad day indeed. I remember a very young Rodger Moore as Beau Maverick, I believe cousin to Brett Maverick (James Garner).

He also played the heir to Goldfarb Girdles in Cannonball Run. Where he signs into the race as Roger Moore and perpetually lives as James Bond.

I will re-watch some Bond films, but not his. He made Bond a joke. Don't know if it was him or poor writing.

RIP. Neither shaken nor stirred anymore.

The Saint is an iconic show that should be on a retro network still - as should Patrick McGoohan’s Secret Agent

It wasn’t Moore that made those Bond movies bad, it was the campy writing and filming.

Milhouse: Uh... can I buy this for a dollar?

Comic Book Guy: No you can not! That is a rare photograph of Sean Connery, signed by Roger Moore. It is worth one hundred and fifty dollars.

The Bond movies were campy from the beginning.

I loved him as “The Saint” but he was a terrible James Bond.

I liked him as Bond at the time, but the movies didn't age well. I was in the minority, but I liked him better as Bond than Sean Connery, even though my favorite Bond movie (until recently) was one with Connery (You Only Live Twice).
