In a nutshell, that is it. Conservatives don’t generally do those kinds of things, because they aren’t mentally unbalanced the way committed liberals often are.
They like to point to someone like Timothy McVeigh, but he was no conservative, he was a radical, and...didn’t do that on his own, either.
I have always thought (sometimes tongue in cheek, sometimes not) that the most effective gun control would be to ban gun ownership by anyone who voted for or expressed support for a liberal candidate.

The usual - Calls for Trump to be impeached, Republicans criticized for not denouncing it sooner, boycott of Conservatives to drive them off the public airwaves, legislation proposed to revoke the 2nd amendment, etc.
If it had been the other way around the media and the Democrats would have been condemning Conservatives 24 hours a day screaming hysterically and demanding that they all be locked up.
First, conservatives don’t go doing these kinds of things. That might change now if these stupid azz libs keep pushing, especially after this event.
Second, IF we did do that kind a of thing, a whole lot of RATs would be stacked up like cord wood...stone, cold dead because we are waaaaayyyy better shots and better armed than most insane libs.
Third, the media uproar would be deafening. They’d be squealing like baby pigs being lead to slaughter.
Fourth, the whole country would probably be better off for it.
Democrats shooting Republicans has been “normal” since 1865.
The press isn’t outraged because they secretly wished the shooter had killed all the Republicans. They are the haters that have created the climate that supports this type of violence.
The real difference is that if it had been the Democrat team practice, the media would be non-stop, relentlessly running the angles etcetera. There will be some mention of it now, since it plays into the constant gun confiscation and anti-2nd themes, but not like if it was Democrats.
