Is there a list of sites that we are not supposed to post from on FR? Usually if I try to post something from a restricted source, it prevents me from doing so immediately. I just posted something from USA Today that was removed. Is USA one of those sources that we may not post from? It was a story on trucking. Also, we used to get something from the mod citing our offense. That doesn't seem to happen any longer.

There are sources not on that list which will are not allowed. I asked the same question a while back and never did get a definitive answer.
My advice: If you post something not on that list and it is removed because of the source, add that source to YOUR list and don’t post it in the future.

Happens to me once in awhile. there are a lot of wild and wooly sites out there.
Also, how come you need to login each day?
JR’s new software has disabled the “more convenient” option.
The only restriction is stories about your sister & moose.
I don’t need to log in everyday, matter of fact, I haven’t had to log in for years from this computer but I did the other day when I was out of town using the motels puter.
No sure how up to date the list is but it offers a starting point. Like you said if
they pull something you post then don’t post from it again would be my thought.

Those have to be posted in breaking news, or they'll get pulled so quickly that no one will see them.
I only have to log in after I use Spybot to clean out everything.
Posted this before and I’ll post it again.
The check if a source is okay to be posted on FR occurs when you click Preview on the posting page. The posting page software compares your entry to the Source URL box with a list of known “can’t post that here” URLs.
Unfortunately, that check is performed after you have laboriously filled in all the boxes. If your entered URL is on the no-no list, all your work is for nothing and you’ve wasted a bunch of time only to be told No.
I see three solutions:
1. Maintain your own no-no list and check it before posting. A royal PITA.
2. Enter minimal info, just to get to the point of clicking Preview. But if you don’t get an error message, you have to go back and, in effect, repost all the info.
3. Sweet talk John Rob into moving the Source URL box to the top of the page as the first question and add a following Continue button. When you click the Continue button, the same check could be performed as now except you’d know right away if you’ve got a problem.
Personally I use number two if the article source is new to me. But number three is my fav.
Your post from USA Today about truckers is three threads above this one. It still works for me.
