Happy 87th birthday (June 30) to economist Thomas Sowell
AEI Ideas ^ | June 29, 2017 | Mark Perry

Posted on 07/03/2017 8:20:49 AM PDT by Hawthorn

In my opinion, there is no economist alive today who has done more to eloquently, articulately, and persuasively advance the principles of economic freedom, limited government, individual liberty, and a free society than Thomas Sowell. In terms of both his quantity of work (at least 40 books and several thousand newspaper columns) and the consistently excellent and crystal-clear quality of his writing, I don’t think any living free-market economist even comes close to matching Sowell’s prolific record of writing about economics.

A great tribute to a truly amazing man!

(Except that it doesn't mention Sowell's passion for photography!)

Sowell: Choose Trump, he’s much easier to impeach

Happiest birthday! I surely wish you were younger, so we could have your wisdom for more and more decades!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Sowell!

But who is going to follow in your footsteps?

I used to cut out his articles from the paper and send them to my mom. She, and I appreciate his work.

I have wondered since I first read that Sowell article about impeachment if he was anti Trump or merely pointing out, without specifically saying so, that any white male was impeachable, or fair game, from both liberal and conservative voters. Women and ethnic, and I would include sexual identity considerations, are by their very category immune from impeachment. Happy birthday whatever your intention was, Mr. Sowell.

Dr. Sowell's Creator-endowed ability to articulate and defend ideas, as they relate to human nature and the economic dimension of liberty, is unparalleled in our time.

His own personal story is compelling, and, unlike others, his authenticity requires no show of arrogance or bravado.

Happy birthday to one of God's great gifts to the American academic community and to all who love liberty!

I’d LOVE to see him debate an idiot like Sanders. Bernie would melt down and start ranting about the “billionaires, millionaires, the rich, the wealthy, the 1%.”

It would be glorious to see.

Happy Birthday Dr. Sowell! And wishes for many more.

Every book I’ve purchased from you has given me more value than the cost. Beautiful transactions!

If he was married to Walter E. Williams what kind of anniversary gift do you think he would receive?

That is one of the strangest posts I’ve ever seen at FR. Are you on drugs? Thomas Sowell is a man in full and Walter is a widower. Are you sure FR is for you?
