I remember this from when it was happening. The banks were ordered to give loans to people that couldn’t pay them, then when the banks foreclosed or sold the bad mortgages and it all went under, the banks were forced to give money to the very organizations that forced them to give the loans in the first place. The taxpayers, who had to bail everybody out, got nothing.
