I remember little nuns, at least two feet shorter than some of their students, being able to keep order in the classroom.

Back in the day, they would usually have the backing of the school and the parents, as well. Also, the better students in class would back up the teacher's word against the hooligan's version.

Nowadays, that's all flipped, and the school rarely backs the teacher, the parents think little Johnny, Juan, or De'Andre are perfect little angels, and would never be like that in class, and the teacher must have dissed them somehow, and the good students are much less likely to speak up and be accused of being a "snitch."

Interesting story. In my (urban) experience, breaking up a fight between two boys was usually not too difficult. I would do essentially what you did.

But I would NEVER attempt to break up a fight between two girls unless the odds were at least 3 to 1 in my favor. Girl fights are vicious. And unlike with the boys, girls would never stop. That kept coming back for more.

Now, here's what is true. Big city union leaders are all progressives. And big city school administrators are all progressives. It's that last group in particular that is destroying education.

The public, political, rubber-on-the-road face of public education is in most of urban America is hard left. Our local school district can always find time, people and money for #BLM support, leftist political protest, transgender awareness, or to bash Trump or denigrate suburban conservatives. If there are conservatives or others within their ranks, you would never know it. For all practical purposes, IMHO they don't exist.

I broke up a fight between two high school age boys by shouting them down.

A fight between two middle school girls took four faculty to physically hold them apart and remove them to separate rooms.

Never try to break up a girl fight unless you have lots of help!

Don’t make the black kids angry.

That I most certainly agree with. Liberals in the field of education scream and yell...and they always get their own way. Conservatives are more muted (for various reasons), and so they are steamrolled.

As an example: A friend of mine taught in a big-city school district. She was very conservative, and was not quiet about it. And at a union meeting she asked the leadership why the union never endorsed a Republican candidate. How’s that for tilting at windmills?

Soon after asking that question, she was fired for poor teaching (she was an excellent teacher). The union of course wouldn’t help. And the principal generated enough poor “observations” of her that an appeal would have been useless.

I’m a veteran urban high school teacher. And I’ve got an interesting observation for you. In my experience, most of the go-violent-at-the-drop-of a-hat kids were black.

But the truly dangerous psycho kids were almost all white.

I subbed short and long term for 13 years in our little conservative podunkville where nothing exciting happens. The last year was 2010 and it was a nightmare. Kids are out of control, yes, even little white country kids. And the kids loved and begged for me to sub but never again.

When I worked at the state juvie facility, they boys could be reasoned with. Girls would just as soon kill you as look at you. Thing is I had final say in which facility in the state they would spend their time so they should have had enough sense to be on their best behavior. But they didn’t have any sense.

Lack of in-class discipline is the result of the NEA and the left.

Two days punishment for punching a teacher? And they wonder why the sane people either avoid or quit the profession. If you can’t maintain class discipline you are done from the start and with administration not giving any backing, you are done. And they wonder why we have a nation of idiots.

Trouble is, so many are BORN angry. They are the product of lower intellect, emotionally stunted generations. These kids don't need a reason to make them angry-any slight will do. If you want to know where it starts, sit in a mall sometimes-or better yet, WalMart. You'll see the trashy 'mothers' on the phone and little toddlers 20 ft behind them. When they are unable to keep up 'mom' curses them out, manhandles them and tells them to 'STFU' when they cry. Almost no gentle, loving interaction in the home makes for sociopaths who feel nothing for themselves or others.

Then they are dumped into schools. Mama is free and schools are terrorized. I have no doubt this 'teen' is already a father-continuing the cycle. THAT is what has to be stopped! Even Einstein couldn't educate these ferals. They not only don't WANT to learn, they are mentally incapable.

After my experiences teaching in a middle school in a small town in Texas, I will never willingly even enter a room full of black people, ever again, unless it is for an explicitly religious Christian event.

I have seen and experienced the irrational violence and savagery that they always seem to revert to for any and all conflicts both large and small.

They cannot be reasoned with, and are told by their parents not to listen to white people. Those schools are merely holding patterns for prison.

I am confident that some of my former students are in prison right now, and if not, they should be.
