Nonsense.
Careful, measured spanking can be a valuable and harmless disciplinary tool if used sparingly and appropriately: to impress upon a child the danger of a situation; to correct cruelty; against strong defiance.
Discipline must be administered with discipline, never in anger or disproportionately.
All that being said, there is the occasional child for whom spanking is completely ineffective. In those cases spanking would be counterproductive.
A string of gratuitous assertions, contradicted by virtually all research.
The smug assertion of conventional wisdom, flying in the face of scientific evidence, is typical of the irrationality of those who choose not to think about an issue.
The notion that there is a clear distinction between spanking and beating is contradicted by the data. Spanking is only slightly less damaging than beating.
Discipline must be administered with discipline????
