Understanding why progressives love big government
PGA Weblog

In his book "The Principles of Sociology", Edward Alsworth Ross wrote the following: (page 267)

In the management of common affairs there is much to be said for the general as against the local political body. Too often local control sacrifices general and permanent interests to individual and immediate interests. Local control of education leaves its fate on the whole to men of less caliber and vision than those who determine it under state control. Local care of highways means less outlay on the roads of the commonwealth than sound economy demands. Local administration of forests or care of public health will generally be less enlightened than that of the state. Law enforcement by locally chosen officers permits each locality to be a law unto itself. In a word removing control farther from the ordinary citizen and taxpayer is tantamount to giving the intelligent, farsighted, and public-spirited element in society a longer lever to work with.

Note: Progressives hate the 50 states. They would nationalize everything if they had the chance. When he says "the state" he does not mean one of the 50.

That's why progressives hate taxpayers so much. You are arrogant enough to think you have a say. The progressives genuinely believe they're better than you: more enlightened, farsighted, and public-spirited. That's what gives them the right to centrally plan and control every aspect of your life, you see.

Additionally, this is why progressives always move on toward bigger and bigger government. Making government big in the individual states was bound to be not big enough. Once they found Nationalism, that lasted for them for all of about a decade or two. If progressives had the ability to move on to Intergalacticism, they'd drop Globalism in a heartbeat.

Even Theodore Roosevelt advocated for global government, he was the first one. Progressives lust after big government. It turns them on in a sick, twisted way.

Nothing to understand. It’s just a primal, psychotic lust for power.

Years back, I was on our HS debate team, and the topic for that particular years was “Federal Aid to Education”.

Being a typical student at that time, I was on the affirmative side, with the debating points being virtual copies of the reasoning presented in that article. We won state that year.

Fast forward to now. The Feds indeed fund (and subsequently control) public schools. We know the results. Teachers that cannot teach, “standards” that are a joke, virtually illiterate and math unconscious students.

Always remember, one goes into the government NOT because they are superior, but precisely due to the fact that private industry could care less about untalented drivel. Remember the quote from Ghost Busters concerning private industry....”they expect results”.

If one wants further proof: Dorkbama, Pelosi et el. One cannot imagine a more idiotic bunch of uneducated pond scum.

There is no God for them, but the collective will of the people and its leaders is readily elevated to God-like status as the source of all good and morality for them.
Social justice can be seen as investing religious levels of devotion in vicious egalitarianism and belief that only liberal dogma is good, moral, smart, tolerant, acceptable, hunt down the unbelievers and kill the blasphemers. Liberals already hold those values, that only they are good, smart, educated, reasonable, because it is lazy moralizing and an easy way to deny any legitimacy to their rivals but the social justice warriors raise it to a Sacred Truth and hate the “Haters”, see it as a moral duty to enforce political dogma to the smallest nuance.

Ultimately it is about control. The leftist love big government because it allows them total control over the masses.

This is why they hate Trump. He is dismantling the total control that deep state envisions.

“Progressives” are not even truly about “democracy” either.

They only have one use for “democracy”.

That is to elect people who will erect “national” executive branch agencies that will proceed to direct everything without interference from the democratically elected representatives of the people - Congress.

And every act of turning over law making (spoken of falsely as “only regulations”) to federal agencies is a Progressive act of abdication by Congress’ of authority the Constitution granted only to them - that Congress and Congress alone has the authority to make ALL federal law.

Where do them there people come from?

psy·cho·sis
sīˈkōsəs/
noun
  1. a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.
"According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.

The first stage being "demoralization".

It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism.

Most of the activity of the department [KGB] was to compile huge amount / volume of information, on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion.  Publisher, editors, journalists, uh actors, educationalists, professors of political science.  Members of parliament, representatives of business circles.

Most of these people were divided roughly into two groups:  those who would tow the Soviet foreign policy, they would be promoted to positions of power through media and public manipulation;  [and] those who refuse the Soviet influence in their own country would be character assassinated OR executed physically, come Revolution.  "
--KGB Defector Yuri Bezmenov
--Soviet Subversion of the Free Press (Ideological subversion, Destabilization, CRISIS - and the KGB)

The main reason they love CENTRALIZED big government is because it is much easier to take over and control one entity than a thousand small ones. And they are very good at taking over any organization.

Local control of education leaves its fate on the whole to men of less caliber and vision than those who determine it under state control.

Which is why public government education is so much better today than it ever was before the Carter administration created the federal department of education.
