Wow, very impressed by your knowledge.
Even on this thread people are cruel to the obese, just like in France. There are a million reasons people get fat and they aren’t all because they are dumb or lazy. How can people be so cruel?
But, unlike rehab or smoking cessation drugs, insurance will not cover it.
The headmaster is fine with her, ONE collegue is not fine with her. Conclusion, the French are not fine with the obese ???
This women not only has a problem with weight but also with logics. But she is a good client for fake news.
As a Frenchman, I don’t ever know in my life someone saying “I don’t work with fat people”, let alone directly to the “victim”. By any standard, he would be considered a severe psychopathe.
Going cold turkey with alcohol and some drugs can and have led to death. Withdrawal symptoms can be deadly from alcohol and Benzo’s. Medical detox is needed for both.
Atkins or a variation.
I know. I did the math myself and was shocked to see that number returned. But by the looks of the picture, it seems to be correct. Parisians would deem anyone approaching 150 lbs. to be obese, so that is more what I was expecting.
Exactly. And work your body with exercise.
If diet and exercise doesn’t work....blah blah.
Diet and exercise always work.
As HTB mentioned, it could have been triggered by the doctor's intervention when she gained weight as a teenager ... thereby making things worse.
It's normal for girls to put on weight during puberty, as metabolism changes and height growth ends. It doesn't have to be a lifelong thing, if the person adopts sensible eating/exercise habits and doesn't have any metabolic or endocrine issues.
Wintertime mentioned antibiotics as a factor in higher rates of obesity. I wonder if the almost universal use of hormonal contraceptives isn't a factor, as well. Then there's a psychological factor, especially in our culture in which everyone's appearance is considered everyone else's business 24/7. (Some guy had a cow the other day on a thread where I said I liked another older lady's haircut. Looney tunes!)
As we learn in Weight Watchers, part of healthy weight loss/weight maintenance is learning what smart food choices are. People can be overweight without overeating if they aren't knowledgeable about nutrition. The other, often bigger, part is learning how to deal with all the *%&^*(@ in your life, including *^&* people, so that you're able to make the smart food choices.
What she is describing sounds like a condition known as poly-cystic ovary syndrome. It’s more than just teen hormones kicking in.
It also makes you insulin-resistant.
That would certainly create a lot of issues.
They can get on Metformin and it’s a lifesaver.
I see that’s a medication for Type 2 diabetes. Does it also affect the ovarian cysts?
The cysts are somewhat of a misnomer in that they are fluid filled follicles that don’t release the egg, so not a cyst in the normal terms we would think of; a hard mass.
So the cysts in question can, but do not always, ebb and flow with the cycle.
Metformin decreases blood sugar, which lowers insulin, which lowers their too-high testosterone.
But the ladies who have this also have some tricky insulin resistance stuff going on and it helps from that aspect as well.
Thanks, that’s very informative.
The Mona Lisa (Giaconda) was and is Italian. The Italians are very clean and do not smell. (Eye roll.)
I’d like to see her on the “tiny house” program.
Watching the amount of intake and moving more works for most. It is hard to get started. She shouldn’t have been treated so shabbily over the years, but people are cruel. She sounds like a smart woman. I hope she will commit to the kinds of changes that will improve her health.
Bharf!
Eat less, Gabby, and move more.
