Pumpkin spice cereals, pumpkin spice ice cream, pumpkin spice coffee, pumpkin spice creamer, pumpkin spice yogurt.
There is seemingly no end to the pumpkin spice food onslaught this time of year. Some foods, fortunately, have remained untouched. Like pizza.
Oh no, they didn't.
New Jersey-based Villa Italian Kitchen is debuting its Pumpkin Spice Pizza Friday, Sept. 22, the first day of fall. The chain is calling it "the first ever pumpkin spice pizza.''
Let me be the first to say it: Forget all those hurricanes and earthquakes bedeviling the globe; this is a sure sign of the apocalypse. It's bad enough people put pineapple, buffalo chicken and cheesesteak on pizza.
But now they're defacing it with pumpkin spice?
Villa Italian Kitchen, headquartered in Morristown, has 300 locations in 38 states and six countries. New Jersey locations include Edison, Blackwood, Tinton Falls, Newark and Newark-Liberty International Airport.

Perhaps it was around years ago, but just this last Christmas a carton of Pumpkin Spice Eggnog was seen on the store’s refrigerated shelves. Wanting eggnog, and the standard variety not to be found, purchased the Halloween variety and was sorely disappointed. Rather than drinking, used the remainder for making French toast = “waste not, want not”.
I will eat a piece of pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving and that’s it for me.

I am officially boycotting any product or concept that is presented to me as “a thing”.
Heck, just because Jennifer Lawrence’s butt hole on the internet is “a thing” doesn’t mean I want to see it.
Pumpkin Spice Pizza? I’d try a slice...if any pizza places on Wooster Street in New Haven get it then I’d say ok, it is a new flavor. I’d take a white clam pizza, thou...
I highly doubt this is new.. Mr. Gatti’s, CiCi’s Pizza, probably most all-you-can-eat places usually have 4 or 5 kinds of dessert pizzas at the end of their buffets. I would be surprised if they have never done a pumpkin-themed pizza around Halloween time.
