There’s a lot more things to be worrying about than vaccinations when it comes to your kid. Indoctrination for one thing.

Used be quite a few FReepers that would be okay with this because they that people who don’t get vaccinations are causing others to die.

I'm confused on the vaccination issue. If virtually every other kid in the school has been vaccinated against diseases, what are the chances of this lady's kid getting a disease that he wasn't vaccinated against?

Who's going to be sick with it if everyone's been protected against it?

Seriously? Are you that daft? Or a millennial.

An awkward issue, but not as awkward for those who are older and remember. I missed a month from elementary school because I had red measles (which used to be one of the leading causes of death in the nation). I remember the sugar cubes that we lined up for with the polio and smallpox vaccine, and were glad to take it, knowing those who suffered because they didn’t have the chance. I have a cousin who as a child was severely ill with diphtheria. We, as a people, have better health and longer lives today because of vaccines. Younger folks may not understand that as readily.

There are limits. There are a few valid issues. But if you don’t want any vaccines at all for your child, fine. Go raise him in a country that doesn’t require them. Don’t piggyback on the responsible actions of the many.

Why didn’t the judge just tell the dad to do it during his time of visitation?

If there’s a vaccination against liberal indoctrination my kids would get it whether their mom likes it or not.

You can have low vaccination rates or open borders that bring in people with diseases we eliminated via vaccination plus new ones.
Pick one.

One more thing: Just last century a single, pre-vaccine, flu epidemic killed approximately five percent of the world’s population.

Sorry for the rant. I have sympathy for those whose children are unusually susceptible to health issues from vaccines, and understand that a few vaccines are questionable at best. But I find despicable those who refuse to be vaccinated at all because they are selfishly depending on the “herd immunity” brought about by the responsible actions of multitudes of others.

most dogs are vaccinated against rabies and distemper. Unvaccinated dogs still get rabies and distemper.

It is called “Herd Immunity” and the problem is that a critical mass of people are buying the very discredited link between autism and other maladies and vaccinations.

There have been outbreaks of measles and mumps in schools in the last few years from people “exercising their rights” to the detriment of others.

Parents don’t want to vaccinate? Then home school at your expense and keep your whelps away from other kids.

Here’s a hypothetical question for you...

My kid gets a measles vaccination. The other 500 kids in his school don’t. All 500 come down with measles at the same time and they come to school and play with my kid. Does my kid come down with measles?

In the past, there was a thing called a family, and people called fathers who led them. Now we have everything decided by judges.

Probabilities are 93% or so against it. The number of contacts increases the probabilities of course.

While we are posing suppositions, what if your kids play on the freeway during rush hour when the cars are moving slowly. Will they get hit and killed/maimed anyway>

Well, the father in this case wants the child vaccinated.
So what now?

News flash: Not all of those 500 kids would come to school. As recently as 1980 more than 10% of people who contracted red measles died. That means more than 50 of those 500 children would be dead.

Have a nice day.
