Cannabis users are more likely to commit violent crime, pioneering research has shown. It warned those who smoke the drug regularly run an increased risk of using violence against others. The project is the first to demonstrate that cannabis is not only linked with violent crime but is the cause...Researchers said that cannabis causes violence and they found no evidence that the link is the other way round ie that violent people are more likely to use cannabis...The academics said the effect of cannabis use was clear and not diminished by other factors such as patients who were heavy drinkers of alcohol.

Smoking cannabis DOES make people more violent: Project confirms for the first time that using the drug is the cause of crimes
There's a list of shocking individual cases with information about each of those in the article under "THE SHOCKING TOLL OF ATTACKS LINKED TO CANNABIS USERS." Just follow the link.
Oh my...’And. Here. We. Go.’
Many cannabis users also drink alcohol and take other drugs.
What I got from the article is that psychotics may act out while stoned. Or otherwise.
Maybe states like California-Nevada-Colorado should invest POT-Profits in law enforcement...
Gee...I never saw that coming. Also, more people smoking the crap means more people stealing stuff to sell for dope money. I know crime is way up in Alaska since we “legalized” dope.
What a crock.
I’ve not touched dope since 1977, and think it’s stupid to do so, but I hung around a LOT of potheads and casual users. NOT ONCE did I see more violent behavior.
The key to comedy is that it is based in reality. This is what makes the old Cheech and Chong comedy act and their movies so funny to those that like them.
(Not to mention my own beautiful states of mind of 40 plus years' worth ..... )
“It warned those who smoke the drug regularly run an increased risk of using violence against others...”
Especially if they “Bogart that joint”...
Having grown up as the younger sibling of a heavy pot smoker whose personality changed significantly after starting to use that poison, I often wound up as her punching bag for years.
Pot doesn’t make people commit violent crimes. That’s just a idiot not knowing the difference between causation and association. Our education system graduates morons.
The type of people who smoke pot are the type of people most likely to commit crimes, but in no way does the pot cause criminal activity.
We’ve gotten so dumb in this country that even Velcro shoelaces confuse us.
LMAO!!! Funniest headline so far this year. Whatta buncha douche nozzles.
That headline does not reflect the journal article's conclusions.
I call BS on this article based on my personal experience as a medical marijuana patient. Also I know numerous cannabis users & have worked with scores more as a performing musician & none of them ever showed any hint of violence.
The “subjects” of this article prove only that people who don’t take their meds properly for they psychiatric illness are apt to do about anything, including committing violence on others.
Pure prohibitionist propaganda, IMO.
Except for:
“Researchers said that cannabis causes violence and they found no evidence that the link is the other way round ie that violent people are more likely to use cannabis.”
So does alcohol
Ask the spouses and children of an alcoholic
Interestingly enough, they accounted for that, and still found the result that pot makes potheads violent.
From the article: The academics said the effect of cannabis use was clear and not diminished by other factors such as patients who were heavy drinkers of alcohol.
There are many articles showing cannabis usage linked to bipolar and schizophrenia. And showing not just linkage but cause. Long term cannabis usage damages the area of the brain, that is damaged in people with bipolar.
Pot makes you psychotic.
Do you think violent behavior has a cause?
