The mother of a 6-year-old Florida boy who took a knee during the Pledge of Allegiance on Monday morning criticized the way the school handled the incident.

Eugenia McDowell told ABC News that her son knelt down during the daily pledge to the flag at Wiregrass Elementary School in Wesley Chapel, Florida. The incident occurred after a weekend of demonstrations across the NFL in which many players, owners, and teams engaged in peaceful protests by sitting, kneeling or locking arms during the national anthem.

The teacher was correct as the little ED-209 was being disrespectful but you can't tell the BT-1000 that.

Tell you the truth....The kid might be thinking this is a prayer thing.....especially if he’s seen the famous pic of George Washington.

the kid is mimicking the millionaire teenagers he watches on tv, which is exactly why it shouldn’t be broadcast.

“Tell you the truth..”

I know what Tommy Sotomayor is going to say about this story before even he says it.

That hair hat got on the camera and said her kid was “disrespected”? But no father? Where is the father? Never a father. Had there been a father this would not even have happened.

Oh no
Little Tyrevious was “ admonished”
Guess he found out free speech isn’t “ free”
Like millions of other Americans
Who didn’t just get assigned to another teacher

Next is she gonna teach little Tyrevious to disrespect the orders of a police office who can’t tell her precious what to do..

The students in my first hour class (when we say the Pledge of Allegiance) have also caught wind of the NFL rot as many of them have chosen to remain seated. In response, I taught them a lesson on why Americans stand for the flag, even showing a video to them narrated by some handicapped veterans to no avail. It seems that these students unanimously agree on one thing---the flag has done nothing for them personally. Attempting to introduce logic into the equation by presenting them facts about what benefits they receive by just BEING American doesn't seem to faze them.

I weep for our future...

Read James Clavell’s short story “The Children’s Story.” In this short story, Clavell touches on many important concepts such as freedom, religion and patriotism.

“Clavell’s own commentary tells how he was inspired to write this story after a talk with his six-year-old daughter just home from school. His daughter, Michaela, was explaining how she had learned the Pledge of Allegiance and he was struck by the thought that, though she had memorized the pledge, she had no idea what many of the words meant.

During that day I asked all kinds of people of every age, “You know the ‘I pledge allegiance...’, but before I could finish, at once they would all parrot it, the words almost always equally blurred. In every case, I discovered that not one teacher, ever — or anyone — had ever explained the words to any one of them. Everyone just had to learn it to say it. The Children’s Story came into being that day. It was then that I realized how completely vulnerable my child’s mind was — any mind for that matter — under controlled circumstances. Normally I write and rewrite and re-rewrite, but this story came quickly — almost by itself. Barely three words were changed. It pleases me greatly because it keeps asking me questions... Questions like what’s the use of ‘I pledge allegiance’ without understanding? Like why is it so easy to divert thoughts and implant others? Like what is freedom and why is it so hard to explain? The Children’s Story keeps asking me all sorts of questions I cannot answer. Perhaps you can — then your children will...

The story takes place in an unnamed school classroom in the United States, in the aftermath of a war between the US and an unnamed country. It is implied that America has been defeated and occupied. The story opens with the previous teacher leaving the classroom, having been removed from her position and replaced with an agent of the foreign power. The new teacher has been trained in propaganda techniques, and is responsible for re-educating the children to be supportive of their occupiers. During the course of the story, the children are persuaded to abandon their religion and national loyalty. Framing the story is the fact that, while the children have ritually recited a ‘Pledge of Allegiance’ every morning, none know what it actually means. The teacher is relentlessly positive about the change, offering the children candy, songs and praise. When asked if the war was won or lost, she responds only that “we won,” implying that everyone would benefit from the conquest.

Only one student is initially hostile to the new teacher, a child named Johnny, whose father had been arrested and placed in a re-education camp. At first, he defends his father, but when he is rewarded by the teacher with a position of authority in the class, he quickly accepts the new regime and commits himself to not accepting “wrong thoughts.” The story takes place over a twenty-five-minute span...”

In the text above, substitute “Liberals” in place of “foreign power” and you see what’s happening in education, the NFL, MSM, etc. today.

I just recently read that story again. I remember reading it back in Jr. High School.

It is very compelling.

No Daddy? Single mothers are a plague.
We should go full ‘Handmaids Tale’ and give them something to really complain about.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
