Beyond the smoking gun: The new JFK files fill in 2 holes in the assassination story
jfkfacts.org ^ | 2017 | Jeff Morley

I’ve been hearing from news reporters for major news organizations, who ask, “What’s in the new JFK files? Is there a smoking gun?”

The answer is no. There is no one piece of evidence in the 113,00 pages of JFK records scheduled to be released by October 26, 2017, that will change people’s minds...

But the new JFK files, if released in their entirety, will fill in the two key gaps in the JFK assassination story that have long been obscured by government misconduct, official secrecy, and lazy journalism.

Think of the JFK assassination story as an incomplete mosaic. The new files help complete the picture in two ways.

The new files shed light on the CIA’s use of Lee Oswald for intelligence purposes before November 22, 1963. They also illuminate the illegal actions of government officials to conceal the CIA’s manipulation of Oswald and its plot to kill Fidel Castro in late 1963....

The CIA’s Use of Oswald:

The new files strengthen the claim–long denied by the CIA and mainstream news organizations–that the agency used accused assassin Lee Oswald for intelligence purposes.

Part of the story was brought to light the JFK review board in the 1990s when they released, a complete version of one of the agency’s many pre-assassination cables on Oswald. It was prepared by Jame Angleton’s Counterintelligence Staff on October 10, 1963.

More of the story is coming in the testimony of Orest Pena, a New Orleans bar owner who said he saw Oswald in the company of a senior FBI agents in the summer of 1963. The Pena testimony was not included in the first batch of National Archives releases last week.

The newly-declassified financial records of the CIA front group, the Cuban Revolutionary Council, are also relevant, as Larry explains at The New JFK Show Blog. In his turn as a public supporter of Castro in the summer of 1963, Oswald had repeated contacts with people associated with the CRC. I will be writing more about these records in comings weeks.

Meanwhile, intelligence historian John Newman has already begun to use the new files to develop the granular knowledge of CIA covert operations and cryptonyms necessary to tell this story.

The Criminal Cover-up:

The JFK release last week includes a great deal of material about Russian defector Yuri Nosenko, who claimed to have seen Oswald’s KGB file. The veracity of Nosenko’s claims in the face of CIA interrogation is a key issue that requires deeper analysis, as Newsweek has already reported.

Key documents to come include the still-unreleased testimony of Angleton to the Church Committee on September 12, 1975.

Also important are the operational files of CIA officers hostile to JFK who were involved in assassination operations including Bill Harvey, David Phillips, and Howard Hunt.

None of these files were included in the first Archives release.

You’re right. We’re left with the feeling that certain parties have been able to gain access to the JFK documents, although they have not been officially released to the public.

When it comes to being conspiracy minded I can see irony is lost on you. Oswald did it. Alone. Unaided. End of story.

CIA Operatives are not always the brightest bulbs. Oswald did not live and work in a vacuum. He liked the spook world and was meeting certain CIA good ole boys who had a beer or two with him unofficially just to yak it up. So he got to know a few. Doesn’t mean the agency HQ had designs involving him. It just means he was chummy with a few.

There were some CIA that were hostile to Kennedy. Very plausible Oswald tapped into that and got the idea he could make the assassination a reality. No doubt there was an agent who over a beer would say “someone should take the SOB out” and Oswald thought it was serious.

Because of the Zapruder film, and police audio tapes, it is more probable than not that a 2nd shooter was involved. It doesn’t mean there was a 2nd shooter but the evidence weighs to a 2nd shooter. The Warren Commission was an incompetent body. Many unanswered questions.

What do I believe? Not a damn thing. Do I believe there was a conspiracy? No. Do I believe there was not a conspiracy? No.

Those that claim more than two shooters have greater weight. Those that say it was only Oswald are blowing smoke out their *ss.

Neither group that is ‘sure’ gains my respect because they don’t have enough evidence to be ‘sure’. I respect those that consider the evidence and don’t draw a conclusion. It’s Ok to discuss the evidence and where the evidence points to. It is NOT Ok to jump to any conclusion.

But, will it show an attempt on General Walker’s life?

Inquiring minds want to know!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edwin_Walker

“Walker was the target of an assassination attempt in his home on April 10, 1963, but narrowly escaped serious injury in the attack when a bullet fired from outside hit a window frame and fragmented. After its investigation into the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the Warren Commission concluded that the assailant was Lee Harvey Oswald.[2]”

I was eight years old that day in November, i have read the Warren commission report, and a host of other books. I am sure of one thing, our government is hiding something. This documment release will cause more questions than it will answer.

I agree with your assessment.
It set the tone that the
“Deep State” ran the Government.
Lies and fear would control
the day to day workings.
If you were part of “the Boys”
And played ball ...
You can do no wrong.
A perfect atmosphere
For the Crime Family’s to thrive.

“When it comes to being conspiracy minded I can see irony is lost on you. Oswald did it. Alone. Unaided. End of story.”

What does irony have to do with what you or I posted?

Oswald acted alone? What about Jackie Kennedy, who sat next to her husband? She did not believe that. Or John Connally, who got shot in the event? Or the United States Congress that finally admitted there was a conspiracy. You need to get the word out that you know better.

Since there’s nothing to see here and nothing to be learned, and you have 100% faith in the brilliant Warren Commission and its findings...

Why are you here?

You must be part of the 29% of Americans that believe that Oswald was the ‘lone wolf’ who assassinated JFK. (Gallup Polling)

I think there is a very good chance ‘Poppy’ Bush will be on trial by the end of the year.

He may even face the chair by the end of 2018.

No matter how infirm he pretends to be, he must face justice if / when found guilty

Looks like Trump ordered these documents released as a swipe at the Deep State.

"Also, one of the major pre-lim files on Lee Harvey Oswald was reported permanently misplaced in 1997. "

Sounds like spook-speak for "destroyed".

Others see it as a rorschach test. Conspiracy nuts look at a simple crime and see what they wish to see.

“CIA director Robert Gates announced today that he plans to make public secret files on the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Weekend Update has already obtained one of the files. [screen shows a file will all words blacked out, except Oswald] This document seems to confirm the Warren Commission’s findings that Oswald did act alone.”

You must have not read the book written by the doctor who attended JFK in Dallas that described the phone call from LBJ.

What did LBJ say in the phone call?

HRC sure the hell wouldn’t have released them. Her one term was to vaporize evidence, old and new, that deep state still hasn’t recovered.

Here is the long-and-short of this whole deal in my own opinion:

Maybe there were some legitimate reasons for withholding large amounts of evidence in the years near the assassination - particularly in light of sensitivity for the family.

But here we are 50+ years later and the real meat and details are still being held tightly by the Three-letter agencies. What could possibly still be of relevance to national security that would justify the withholding of ANY of the files on the JFK assassination? WHY the ongoing secrecy?

ANSWER: There is still something MASSIVE and revealing about the abject corruption and scary power held by some over and in our nation.
