MORE

Nevada is the state with the highest percentage of overweight adults, followed by Alaska and New Jersey tied for second and Montana and Florida.

The report revealed the highest amount of obese adults are found in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, West Virginia, and Arkansas, which has become a trend due to disparities in healthcare in the Appalachian region.

Obesity rates in those states have nothing to do with disparities in healthcare. It is cultural differences. Being thin in an area like New York City is culturally approved. No one wants to be fat in areas that promote fashion , and looking good.In the areas that have high obesity rates, there is no cultural norm to be thin. Fat is accepted. Exercise is not accepted in the culture.

Heh... Texans trail us by one. Dammit Texans, go eat some brisket. You can do it. Extra helpings would rocket you to #10. Here in Indiana we are going to eat an extra tenderloin sandwich with extra mayo to keep it competitive.

Not good. Increases disease, strains healthcare systems, impacts military readiness...People need to get off their cans and put down the Fritos. America is better than this.

I’m in the process of losing weight. I’ve lost 25# and intend to lose 70# in total.

Isn’t it also harder to exercise without a health club, in those states, ie heat and humidity? Of course, 80+ percent of weight is what a person chooses to eat, not how much they exercise, from what I understand.

Should not have posted that pic so close to lunch time. I now have a serious craving to go to a local greasy spoon and have one for lunch. Think schnitzel between buns with a side of mayo to spread on the all already greasy thing. Delicious but my cardiologist would not approve.

Mississippi is 39 percent black

Obesity amongst black women is 60% and men 40%

So you start out the gate with over 20 percent obesity in blacks alone

Throw in whites at 20 to 24 percent which is white national average and there you have it

It is cultural

Being fat for women is verboten in higher incomes

Common in less income regardless race

It’s that where everywhere

Thinnest is altitude states

My city where I lived for 48 years used to regularly be named as one of America’s fattest cities. The most excellent Mexican Food was a real good reason why.

Nickname was ‘Fat Antonio’.
