ONe of my favorite songs. A great version
although I like Rina Ketty’s version the best.

J’attendrai le jour et la nuit
J’attendrai toujours ton retour
L’horologe tisse sons très lent;
je crois entendre ton pas.
Le vent m’apporte de bruits lointains
Guettant ma porte j’écoute en vain
Hélas, plus rien plus rien ne vient.
J’attendrai le jour et la nuit
J’attendrai toujours ton retour
J’attendrai car l’oiseau qui s’enfuit
vient chercher l’oubli dans son nid
Le temps passe et court en battant tristement
dans mon coeur si lourd
Et pourtant j’attendrai ton retour
Et pourtant j’attendrai ton retour.

I’m teaching myself guitar now, and I’m about a month in. This stuff still boggles the mind.

I can barely make a note. I practice an hour today, and I am musically inclined (Piano, autoharp, some big band experience and i can read sheet music and hear out music pretty well).

My fingers just can’t seem to hit the strings cleanly. A practiced guitarist just makes it look SO easy.

Lots of great things happened in 1939! Ask my mom! ;>) It was also a peak year for Hollywood. It was a bad year to be Polish.

Gypsy (Romani) jazz. Very cool. Now I know where the music in Chocolat came from.

Thanks for posting that. I was lucky enough to see Stephane Grappelli in 1979, playing with the David Grisman Quintet.

Django FREAKING Reinhardt.

I still shake my head when listening to this master play. One of a kind. Pure genius.

I highly recommend “Stephane Grappelli: A Life in the Jazz Century.” It used to be on Netflix; might still be. Highly entertaining.
