U.S. Congress urged to require Chinese journalists to register as agents

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A report to the U.S. Congress released on Wednesday accused Chinese state media entities of involvement in spying and propaganda and said their staff in the United States should be required to register as foreign agents.

The annual report of the U.S. China Economic and Security Review Commission said that while China had tightened restrictions on domestic and foreign media, Chinese state media had rapidly expanded overseas.

The commission, created by Congress in 2000 to monitor national security implications of U.S.-China trade relations, said China’s state media expansion was part of a broader effort to exert greater control over how China is depicted globally, as well as to gather information.

The report highlighted the rapid growth of the Xinhua news agency and noted that it had offices at the United Nations in New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston and San Francisco.

About time Any Red Chinese official is a real or potential spy - economic, military, academic, or cultural. Their psyops and espionage programs are literally unknown to America though there is one book on the subject on the major market.

However, a small, paperback was published by the United States Intelligence Council, Fairfax, Va. in 2002. I don’t know whether the USIC is still around or not but the author is.

Entitled “Stealth Invasion: Red Chinese Operations in North America”, a companion to the earlier “China Doll: Clinton, Gore and the Selling of the U.S. Presidency”, by noted internal security researcher/writer, Roger Canfield concentrates on the Red Chinese economic/espionage company known as the China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO) “and its shadow, the Orient Overseas Container Line ((OOCL)”.

Time for Congress to get off its ass and do a really penetrating investigation of Red Chinese operations in the U.S.

It’s somewhat similar to being a registered sex offender. You aren’t allowed within 500 yards of a Congressman unless you send a limo to pick him up. (Or, in the case of a Democratic Congress Critter (DCC) you send a limo to pick up him/her/it/zis/cis.)
