But a fascinating photo series reveals that these countries are almost the only ones that celebrate by eating these foods.

Twenty-five families from across the world were asked what they tuck into on December 25 by Christmas tree maker Balsam Hill, and some of the meals are very different to a traditional roast dinner.

From slices of veal in a creamy tuna sauce to a starter of goat soup, these are the most unusual Christmas dinners that families enjoy on the big day.

Who knew there were Australian pilgrims?

Portugese pilgrims?

Guess Thanksgiving has been "culturally appropriated"

Christmas, not Thanksgiving. The video posted above about KFC in Japan instead of turkey is amazing.

I had to look that up. First husband was Swedish and strangest thing I remember having at the family’s home was egg shells in the coffee. MIL was a marvelous cook, unlike my own who specialized in refried spaghetti with catsup.

It’s such fun to twist your mind to a new way of seeing. You’re most welcome.

We used to have group Christmas dinners with everyone bringing their childhood comfort food, even if no one else would eat it. I made bread pudding grandmother’s sisters taught me after her funeral. One friend brought a pork pie.

Food science run amok in my opinion but some will buy it! Love the leftover suggestions.

Now let us see what they can do for the Christmas Ham or Goose?

I collect funny saying buttons and one of my favorites is “You are what you eat” with a picture of a turkey.
