Are there any missing that you feel should have made the list?

This was posted in 2010. The swamp is wide and deep. It maybe time for some revision.

Rep. Tom Delay resigns under indictment for money laundering—Tom Delay resigned from his position as House majority leader after he was indicted for money laundering. He was caught funneling corporate money into elections where corporate donations are banned. He still hasn’t gone to trial.

Fake news. Total political persecution by a Democrat prosectutor. It has not gone to trial, because there was no crime!!!

Tom Delay was finally vindicated in 2014:

HOUSTON, Texas — Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was found not guilty today by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. This is the highest appellate court in Texas for criminal cases and thus brings DeLay’s political persecution to an end.

The court upheld the ruling last year from the Texas 3rd Court of Appeals. That decision tossed out the convictions on money laundering and conspiracy charges. At that time Justice Melissa Goodwin wrote “The fundamental problem with the state’s case was its failure to prove proceeds of criminal activity,” according to a September 19th report on Breitbart News.

On May 22, 1856, Senator Preston Brooks (D-SC) severely beats Senator Charles Sumner (R-MA) about the head with his cane on the floor of the U.S. Senate in retaliation for an anti-slavery speech Sumner had made. “Sumner was seriously injured by Brooks’ beating, and was unable to resume his seat in the Senate for three years, though eventually he recovered and resumed his Senate career.”

They’re all recent except for the Key murder, for which Sickles was acquitted.

Lousy research. I’m sure there are dozens of juicy stories about Congressmen from over the more than two centuries, but this writer couldn’t be bothered to look.

“uh, Senator Kennedy, her name was Mary Jo. Mary Jo Kopechne.”

“Well there you go. You see? Hardly knew the girl.”

No mention of this golden goodie , the Wilbur Mills incident in 1974. Mills who had an affair with an Argentine stripper Fannie Foxe eventually retired in 1976. He was replaced by Jim Guy Tucker of Whitewater fame. Funny, when it comes to scandals involving Democrats, One thing leads to Another

It was strongly suspected, at the time, that Sumner milked his "injuries" for all they were worth. Somehow, it took him three years to heal. The term "Drama Queen" hadn't been invented, but Sumner would have been the poster boy for the definition.

Congressman Brooks had dozens of new canes sent to him, to replace the one he broke, as well as thousands of telegrams telling him to give the Abolitionist another beating, since he was still moving.

Ah, the good old days...
