Los Angeles detectives said Tuesday they are investigating a woman’s claim that Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski molested her in 1975, when she was 10 years old. But the allegations are so old that criminal charges couldn’t be brought, even if proven.
Although the statute of limitations has long expired, law enforcement officials may be able to use any evidence they collect to help prosecute other cases.
Authorities are now probing the case because Los Angeles detectives “will always take a report from any victim and then determine if the case is within the statute of limitations,” police spokesman Josh Rubenstein said.

The Hollywood celebrities who constantly say Polanski should be allowed to return to the US and continue to support Bill Clinton the rapist are the same ones who demand Trump resign and Moore not be seated if he wins the senate race over allegations that are extremely suspicious.
Anything to take them off the job of rounding up illegals and current pervs.
Hollywood will now give him another award.

I think Polanski should be allowed to return to the U.S., too, so that he can be tried, convicted and thrown in jail for drugging and raping that 13-year-old girl.

I'm not a lawyer but I thought that the statute of limitations "clock" ran only as long as the suspect was within the reach of US courts.Rapist Polanski hasn't set foot in the US for about 40 years.
