Some people learn from other people’s mistakes.
Some people learn from their mistakes.
Some people don’t learn.
The problem with shoplifting (other than the stealing of merchandise from the shop owner - no small thing) is that in these cases (and most involving ‘kids’ in the affluent USA) the goal is not merely to obtain a desired item. Often, the primary goal is the thrill of “getting away with it”.
Once Thrill Seeking becomes a major motivator in an undisciplined life, escalation & diversification inevitably follow.
For Max Kellerman to have that attitude toward his children is child abuse. Gratitude is that was the ONLY transgression committed by his kids is one thing, but “being fine with it” implies it is “no big deal”.
The best responce was articulated by that great 20th century philosopher, Barney Fife: “Nip it in the bud!”
I’m going to citrus bowl again this years to watch Geaux kick ass again
