I know of three kids who drown under ice as a kid.
And another who died from an aneurysm in 3rd grade.

Good thing he ditched his gun and didn’t fear for his life from the lad.

The cop is exceptionally brave and heroic. He knew going in that his life would be in immediate danger and he could die along with the boy. He did it anyways because otherwise the boy would almost certainly have died. Good man!

How many people have died because the first First Responder on scene decided to follow procedure and await backup?

I’m sure there was the adrenaline factor also.

damn, if he can punch through it, it's barely thick enough to stand on He jumped up and down on the thick ice until it broke, then he waded on his toes toward the boy through the icy water. The boy had moved under the unbroken ice, so he had to punch through that to reach him.

I hope he didn’t get an ear infection that caused him to lose his hearing in one ear.
(Seriously, praise God for this heroic officer and prayers for the kid)
