‘B1G this year is 7 - 0 in bowl games so far, with one game left. Go Blue!’
and the three years prior they were 13-16; obviously the matchups must have been tougher...point being, a bowl record in any one year has nothing to do with overall strength...
‘Then why not Wisconsin? Or UCF (undefeated).’
because Wisconsin lost to OSU, so they couldn’t go instead of them; exactly the same way neither bama nor Georgia could go if Auburn had knocked off Georgia...that Auburn lost, don’t blame the committee...
oh, and check out UCF’s schedule...
Yes those teams. The two that won championships of their conference. If not them then UCF since they are the only undefeated team.
I’m shocked they allowed any SEC team in. The two that they let in lost to Auburn. Auburn who lost to UCF a school from a no-name conference. I school so weak the committee doesn’t even consider them viable even after going undefeated. Hell if a crap school from a crap conference can beat Auburn anyone Auburn beat is really really weak.
ND and Iowa are too big name schools. And Iowa plays in the toughest conference.
‘And Iowa plays in the toughest conference.’
ok, Jim Delaney...
‘Im shocked they allowed any SEC team in.’
yeah, they only beat the #1 and #2 teams in the semi finals...how dare they allow them to play in the finals...?
Using after the fact logic means UCF is the national champ.
Big 10 is 7-1 in bowl games. 88%!
SEC won’t even hit 50%.
They all beat the spread too!
What’s sec win rate?
‘Big 10 is 7-1 in bowl games. 88%!’
that makes them 20-17 in the last four years; if you’re attempting to claim they’re the toughest conference, the trend says differently...
‘Using after the fact logic...’
which is exactly what you’re doing to claim the BIG is the top dog...were you doing this last year after the 3-7 mark...?
‘means UCF is the national champ.’
because they were unbeaten...? so was James Madison, are they co-champs...?
BTW, the 4 year SEC bowl mark is 25-20, appearing in eight more games...BIG 54%, SEC 55%; virtually equal...so any argument you’re making about the SEC being uber weak you must also make about the BIG...
Did jmu beat a power 5 conference team which beat the two finalists in the championship game? If so then yes.
Oh we are using old data... Then let’s look back 50 years.
‘Oh we are using old data...’
old data, ha ha...all the way back to the first year of the current playoff system, 2014-2015...
Huh? Read the post I was replying to...it was way before the new playoff system.
‘Read the post I was replying to...
you responded to the post where I gave the previous four year bowl record for the SEC; in another post I gave the same four year period for the BIG...from 2014-2015 thru 2017-2018, which is the same period the playoff system has been in effect...the SEC played 45 games in those four years, with a record of 25-20, and the BIG played 37 games, going 20-17...
‘it was way before the new playoff system.’
can’t imagine what you’re talking about...
