Happy New Year's Eve all.

I'm heading to a friends for a few hours but will be back later. There's no posted schedule but what I understand the BB will run from 7-9pm tonight and Hot Jazz New Year's Eve will take over through the new year.

Hope you're having a great time!

Doing better. Still fighting this throat infection after 2 1/2 weeks. The Zithromycin was like popping Skittles against it. The Augmentin didn't do much better, so my doc put me on Cipro and Rymed, and that seems to be the magic bullet. Still have another week to take it, and my throat is still a little sore and my voice sounds like a steam whistle, but it's coming along nicely. I'm glad I only worked a day and a half since getting back from Maryland, and I'm off tomorrow, so I should be good to go. Got the last of the Christmas decorations packed away, and I'm getting ready to go get a chicken going. We stopped at the Lodge Cast Iron Outlet in Commerce, GA on the way up, and got a nice cast iron Dutch oven (we've never had a Dutch oven of any kind before). We're breaking it in with a whole chicken stuffed with onions, celery, carrots, garlic, lemon slices, etc. Ought to smell good on an evening like this. It is getting cold out there. Then I'm getting a shower, and going to fetch a little more adult refreshment and see if I can locate some more firewood to add to the stack. Be back in a couple hours or so.

Well, that’s the pits, but at least you’re doing somewhat better. Being sick is rough any time, but especially during the holidays. Get well soon!

And here I thought I had to go fetch firewood. I got out of the shower and Connie was outside with an axe and a wedge. I forgot about the big stack of logs under a pine tree that our son-in-law brought us last spring. She was out there splitting logs and toting wood in by the armload. Stout woman. Plus I located a place that got a couple of truckloads in, so we’re good to go until this cold lifts. In March. LOL!

Happy New Year's Eve all. As I left a friends house it was 8f in central Baltimore. Really cold but safe and sound now.

Hot Jazz is going to 2am...how was Christmas?

Christmas was great, except for sitting downstairs Saturday night at a dinette set in the dark to see the laptop screen better, then getting up to get a beer and getting my feet caught up the the power supply cord in mid-stand. I lost my balance and did the most spectacular, Olympic meadalworthy, no-hands face-plant into the corner of the love seat in front of me that should have been captured on camera, and I'd have claimed it. Smashed my reading glasses into my nose, skinned everything from my nostrils to the bridge of my nose up to my eyeballs, and found a way to bruise my chin on the way down in a manner that looked like I'd gone five rounds with Sugar Ray bare-knuckled. My sister got off the sofa, looked down at me and said, "Um, you OK?" ROTFLMAO! I look fine now (except for a residual bruise), and I'm glad my dentures were in a cup in the bathroom, or I'd still be crapping them one tooth at a time. LOL! We'd just come back from Savage River Lodge, where we had a private upstairs dining room to ourselves, and a full wait staff. I must say that their smoked crab dip and grilled antelope chops are to die for. Which, BTW, we discovered that the antelope who donated its life for them was free-range and running around a hunting preserve in Texas about two days prior. One of their 'dispatch experts' gave it a 6.5 Creedmoor to the noggin from a helicopter on Thursday, and it was processed and overnighted to the lodge.

And yes, it snowed that night, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Perfect. Just perfect.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Viking, that picture of the Lodge—the last time you posted it I thought it was your house! And, DANG what a NICE house! :-D I clicked on the link you added for Savage River Lodge, and then I realize it’s NOT your house.

I’m glad you didn’t break anything in your stumble-and-fall!

Happy New Year, Vision! You’re FROZEN! Well, so are we, but it’s a great deal “warmer” here, a blazin’ 28 degrees.

Both holidays were (are) fine. We didn’t do anything, just the usual, hanging out at home. Tonight is the big Alabama-Clemson game.
